Congratulations, Greetings, Upcoming events...12 In the light of the alarming statistics about the breakdown in
family relationships, there is a clear indication that families can
endure. Much pain and suffering is experienced in the life of the
family when loved ones are taken through drug abuse, gun

Children Learn What They Live. . . By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight.
If a child lives with fear, he learns to be apprehensive.
If a child lives with pity, he learns to feel sorry for himself.
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with jealousy, he learns what envy is.
If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns to be confident.
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with praise, he learns to be appreciative.
If a child lives with acceptance, he learns to love.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with recognition, he learns that it is good to have a goal.
If a child lives with sharing, he learns about generosity.
If a child lives with honesty and fairness, he learns what truth and justice are.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith in himself and in those about him.
If a child lives with friendliness, he learns that the world is a nice place in which to live.
If you live with serenity, your child will live with peace of mind.
With what is your child living?

A woman that wraps herself in strength, carries herself with confidence and
works hard, we salute our dear Sister Meredith Brookes-Pemberton as the St.
Kitts District Wesleyan Woman of the Year 2016-2017.
Meredith plays a very integral role in the church community at the
Gingerland Wesleyan Holiness Church. She currently holds the position of
Local Church Secretary. She organizes the weekly and monthly roster for
church activities and cleans and decorates the church on a weekly basis to
ensure that the house of the Lord is a safe and clean environment for all to
worship.
Sister Meredith serves on the district level as the Assistant Director for the
Wesleyan Women. She also serves as the Adult Youth Leader for the youth
society at her local church and directs the choir and worship team.
In addition, Meredith not only takes care of the needs of the church but
her family as well. Sister Pemberton relentlessly takes care of the needs of
her mother who recently suffered a stroke. Before she goes to work, Meredith
would drop by her on mornings to make sure all is well. But this continues
throughout the day, Sister Meredith would leave work during her lunch
period to make sure that her mother is comfortable.
Moreover, sister Pemberton had recently suffered some great damages to
her home due to fire, causing her to relocate to her mothers home until
renovations have been made. Even though Sister Pemberton faces these great
challenges in life, she still manages to smile and put her best out front and
remain faithful and dedicated to her family and to the work of God.
Meredith Pemberton, a dedicated and hardworking lady, awarded and
praised for her unwavering support to the local women society and the district
at large. May God continue to bless and keep her and make his face to shine
upon her and give her peace.

Rev. Cordelia Gibson, District Superintendent Emeritus,
deepest appreciation for the outstanding leadership and dedication 2007 to 2017 was the order of the day, as the St.
Vincent and the Grenadines District celebrated her achievements at the Russell Auditorium on Sunday, 7 May 2017.

Rev. Polly Olliver gracefully ran a tight ship as she navigated us through the evenings proceedings. The evening of ministry
was off to a fitting start with prayer by Rev. Wilmoth Harper following was a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem
by Sis. Nodica Delpesche, then the formal welcome and greetings were extended by the District Superintendent, Rev. Cenus
Hinds.

Jehovah You Are The Most
High God and Thanks,
Thanks, I Give You Thanks.
These carefully selected
numbers held great
significance for the honouree
and the dynamic delivery had
the congregation rocking.

This occasion was also utilised to recognise the contributions of several persons who served with Rev. Gibson and they
were presented with certificates.

Due to a prior engagement, apologies were tendered for the absence of Rev. Dr. Joel Cumberbatch, General Superintendent
but his written submission was presented by Min. Enville Neil. Rev. Cumberbatch described Rev. Gibson as a pioneer, she
was the first female to be elected to such a noble office in the Caribbean and therefore is also the first female to be conferred
the title District Superintendent Emeritus. Rev. Cumberbatch expressed gratitude for the work of Rev. Gibson noting also
the contribution of her family. He left us with words from the Psalm of Life, a poem by Henry Wadsworth as he pronounced
blessings on her continued service.

A pictorous slideshow detailing various aspects of Rev. Gibsons journey preceded her being escorted to the front of the
auditorium by Rev. Cenus Hinds where she was met by Pastor Neva Cordice for her sashing as captured in the photographs.

The approximately thirty voice choir assembled under the

directorship of Sis. Tonya Scott ministered two pieces, God and God
Alone and I Press, we were indeed inspired to press on.

The choregraphed piece by Kalos Dance Ministry was

superb. The dancers were aptly attired and they
passionately delivered, captivating the congregation.
SO WHO IS THIS WOMAN OF HONOUR?

Rev. Cordelia Nutricia Gibson (nee Charles), the last of twelve children born to Theophilus
and Olive Charles of Campden Park, St. Vincent. After attending Sunday school as a toddler, at the
age 12 she was baptized and became a member of the Campden Park Wesleyan Holiness Church.
Cordelia from that very young age and onwards held every possible office at Church at different
stages of her Christian walk, many times having to conduct the services in the absence of the Pastor.

At age 14, Cordelia became a Supernumerary Teacher and later gained her qualifications as a
Qualified Teacher at the SVG Teachers College. She taught at the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary
Levels and also in Adult Literacy Programmes. Cordelia also worked at the Ministry of Education
for a two-year period as coordinator for the Nutrition programme in Primary and Pre-schools.
Following this, Cordelia became the Course Coordinator and Curriculum Advisor for the first
Hospitality programme offered by the Ministry of Education in SVG, a post she held until her
retirement.

Cordelia Gibson entered the Pastoral Ministry in February 1992. This initiation was at the
Buccament Bay Wesleyan Holiness Church. For the first two years she worked as an Assistant Pastor
under the supervision of Rev. Wilmoth Harper, who was then Senior Pastor. In 1994, Rev. Cordelia
Gibson was installed as Pastor of the said Church and continued there for another fourteen years. In reflection Cordelia
believes that the experience gained at Buccament, truly scrubbed and polished her for todays Ministry.

In March 2004, on that memorable occasion when St. Vincent Wesleyan Holiness Church matured into a Mission District,
Pastor Cordelia Gibson also matured. She became an Ordained Minister on that day and a marriage Officer a few months
later. She served as Assistant District Superintendent from 2004 2006. In March 2006, when there was a complete pastoral
shuffle across the district, Rev. Cordelia Gibson was sent to Pastor the Clare Valley Wesleyan Holiness Church. Seems as
if the valley experience (Buccament Valley and Clare Valley) were to be a major part of her spiritual thrust. In March
2007, Rev. Cordelia Gibson became the District Superintendent, at a time when the St. Vincent district was experiencing a
very difficult period in its history.

Married to Samuel Gibson and blessed with a daughter (Tanya), Rev. Gibson is never too eager to speak about her
achievements, (academically and otherwise). She views herself as sold out for Jesus Christ. In the good and difficult times
the blessings of God are a constant reality. After working as a School Teacher/Lecturer for over forty years, Rev. Gibson
retired from her secular job. This was a milestone she was anxious to achieve. Thanks to God!

Other services includes: Prison ministries, Girls Guider, CXC Assistant Examiner, External Assessor for CVQs and NVQs
with Heart Trust, Member of the Education Planning Board, wedding planner, skills Trainer, and Trainer/facilitator in
customer Service with various private entities. Many times she was asked How are you handling all these different hats?
Her reply is always The God who calls sustains.

In February, 2010, Rev. Cordelia Gibson was installed as pastor of the Campden Park Wesleyan Holiness Church. Wow!
she says I wasnt expecting this. However, whatever The Boss (meaning God) says Ill do. Our mandate through Jesus
Christ is to liberate by the power of the Holy Spirit. Rev. Gibson is well-loved and respected wherever she goes. She has
moulded and continues to mould many young lives in church and the wider community. She is truly an anointed woman of
God. Although she has retired from her secular job she is still involved as she is called upon regularly to conduct various
training sessions and to give motivational talks to various institutions.

Rev. Gibson has served in every area of church Ministry and has worked closely with all of the auxiliary departments. She
very rarely missed Sunday school or Youth camp or WWMS retreat, she even attended the mens retreat but she was not
allowed to sleep in. On the 24th August, 2014, the St Vincent and the Grenadines District became an Established District
under the astute leadership of Rev Gibson, a significant achievement for the sixty plus years of existence. She held that
position until January 2017, when she demitted office and on January 28th, 2017, was bestowed the prestigious title of
District Superintendent Emeritus of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Wesleyan Holiness District.

The service continued and Rev. Dr. Sylvanie Charles of the New Hope Family Worship Centre in the USA (sister of Rev.
Gibson) delivered a powerful sermonette as she promised to be short, sweet and hard to beat. The theme, Run to Win
Wesleyan Women Missionary Society THE LINK 8|Page
resonated throughout her delivery. Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye
have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise, this formed the basis of the textural
message. There is a need for patience; we must be patient in our suffering - we will be tested but
hold on and run to win. Be determined for if God be for us who can be against us. There is purpose,
the songs says, For if I'd never had a problem, I wouldn't know God could solve them, so glorify
God. Be patient in sorrow let God fix it for you and run to win, exemplifying patience in success;
be faithful and persevere even when the results are slow. Let us therefore run with patience the race
that is set before us. Avoid being overconfident and overworked but allow God, the Word declares
I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. When you run to win
friends will leave you but know Gods all sufficient grace will keep you. We need patience in our
setbacks, dont be deterred by the disappointments and defeats, keep your eyes on the goal and
place the setbacks in Gods hands. Exhibit patience in service for when you are running to win
expect a purging, God will move the old to bring the new. When you run to win you must be honest,
as you view the outlook be optimistic, if God says it I believe it and that settles it. Remember also
the outreach, dont be self-centred and your outcome will be to finish the course and keep the faith.

After this thought-provoking Word, the tributes and presentations poured in, Rev. Gibson was so elated, tears of joy flowed.
This evening will be forever etched in her mind, She expressed great gratitude for the support and presence of all from near
and far. Rev. Gibson recounted some tough experiences but noted that the difficulties aided her growth. She admonished
the gathering, not to allow anyone to place limits on them, instead keep faithful and stay strong. She spoke of how God
brought her from a lowly background to this phase in her life and shared she was trusting God for the journey ahead.

Rev. Gibson, your achievements are worthy of applause and so the Wesleyan Women Missionary Society salute and thank
you for your outstanding service. We are encouraged by your tenacious spirit, may Gods grace be multiplied to you.

CHRISTS TRUE WITNESSES
by Mirner B. Ward
First Lady of Calvary Wesleyan Holiness Church, British Virgin Islands.

Christs disciples Peter, James, John and the others This life in Christ is the greatest union,
Were true first-hand witnesses, faithful followers. As through the Spirit we identify with Gods only Son.
The Holy Spirit gave to them New Birth, Christ lives in us, and in Him we live;
On Pentecost Day when He came to earth. For in Him we escape hells dreadful pain.
As these men died to sin in full submission, But if any of us, Gods children, should sin,
They became one with Christ in His crucifixion. We crucify Jesus, Gods Son, all over again.
His life they lived after spiritual resurrection, So let us, His servants, remain true to the end,
Which will climax in the end in their glorious ascension. Then the eternal Christ will be our everlasting Friend.
I am crucified with Christ! exclaimed Apostle Paul; As true witnesses, eternal life is our guarantee,
Nevertheless, my life I live in the Son of God. And we share the destiny of King Jesus, our Majesty.
We too, as born-again, witness Christs life from within. On that Resurrection morn, we shall surely rise
We experience crucifixion as we die to sin. To meet our Glorious Saviour in the skies.
We will one day witness His Resurrection Power, What a day that will be, when our Redeemer we shall

place.
In His resurrection, have you claimed your part?
What a day for true witnesses that will be!
Have you ever said to Him, Lord, Your will be done?
Or have you rejected the Saviour, Gods beloved Son?

A teenage boy had just passed his driving test and inquired of his
father as to when they could discuss his use of the car.

His father said he'd make a deal with his son, "You bring your grades
up from a C to a B average, study your Bible a little, and get your
haircut. Then we'll talk about the car."

The boy thought about that for a moment, decided he'd settle for the
offer, and they agreed on it.

After about six weeks his father said, "Son, you've brought your grades up and I've observed that you
have been studying your Bible, but I'm disappointed you haven't had your hair cut."

The boy said, "You know, Dad, I've been thinking about that, and I've noticed in my studies of the
Bible that Samson had long hair, John the Baptist had long hair, Moses had long hair, and there's
even strong evidence that Jesus had long hair."

(You're going to love the Dad's reply!) "Did you also notice they all walked everywhere they went?"
