Elizabeth’s House

I arrived late at this place

Where you have always lived,
Coming from somewhere else
Where the sun barely makes the horizon
And the shadows discouraging.
Here you have the beginnings
Of a garden and a plan
Where everything is marked out
In the brightest of light,
Seeds thoughtfully sown;
Despite the thinness of soil,
Shrubs carefully placed
After much deliberation.
The house in the middle,
A warm invitation.
