Climate Change and how its effecting our World

Is climate change a real thing/issue? That is one of the most controversial questions

people have been asking themselves right now . Right now Im going to explain to you why I

think it is a problem that we can stop based on the information I have found through extensive

research. My goal by the end of this paper is to help you form an opinion on this topic, and to

further your knowledge on it.

To help achieve this goal I have divided my paper into three different categories. The first

is key concepts, this category is vital to the understanding of climate change because it helps you

understand it through studies that have been done and progress that has been made. The second

category is historical facts/dates/events this category is important because it shows important

things that have happened with climate change, what specific things are true and what things are

made up, and important milestones. The third and final category is debatable issues, yes these

topics can easily be debated and you might not agree with my point of view, but they bring up

important issues. All together my hope is that these categories will help you understand this

issue, and that you will do what you can to help prevent it.

Key Concepts

The first concept Ill go over is how Chinas extensive use of fossil fuels has lead to

reduced tourism, more people have become unhealthy, and people are becoming mad at the

government. All of those things make me think that if we continue to pollute the Earth, which

would lead to climate change, would we live in a place where there is no law, people are sick,

and nobody is happy? My next concept is how Columbias diverse landscape is causing a diverse

range of effects from climate change. Since their average temperature is increasing their glaciers

are melting, which is affecting the amount of drinking water they have, and since 80% of their

electricity is hydro powered some residents could lose that appliance.

Debatable Issues

The first debatable issue I will address is that China emits the most greenhouse gasses,

but they produce the most goods. I think that China should be forced to put a cap on the amount

of greenhouse gasses they emit annually, and if they cross that cap they should be penalized for

how much they go over. For the goods I think that more countries need to start producing a

variety of goods like China. The second issue Ill go over is how El Nino and La Nina are

connected to climate change, I think they are because every time they come the world

experiences drastic climate change.

Historical Facts/Events

The first event Ill go over is the joint agreement between the US and China to cap their

CO2 emissions(2014). This event is important because it shows that countries know were using

too much natural gas and its affecting the world in a bad way. The second event Ill go over is

Chinas plan to shut down all coal plants in Beijing by 2016. This shows that China sees the

problem and theyre trying to fix it. The last thing Ill go over is that the sea level has rose 8

inches in the last century, thats due to the fact that glaciers are melting because of climate

change.
