Problem: How does different exercise affect a persons heart rate?

Hypothesis:I believe that with the changing of movement like exercising it will change the
bodys heart rate and make the heart rate increase.

Material List:
Computer with Vernier Logger Prosoftware
Vernier LabQuest Mini with USB cable
Vernier Heart Rate Hand-Grip Monitor
Person

Resting Procedure:

1. Obtain a Vernier Hand Grip Heart Rate monitor. You will use this probe to determine your
heart rate and compare this value to the resting heart rate you measured in Part II.
2. Turn off any cell phones and disable the wireless connection on the computer.These can
interfere with the software we are using
3. Start Logger Pro software on your computer.
4. Click on File Open and open the Human Physiology with Vernier folder.
5. Open the program titled 03 Heart Rate Vital Sign.
6. Connect the LabQuest Mini to the computer using the USB cable.
7. Connect the Handgrip Heart Rate Monitor into CH 1 of the LabQuest Mini using the British
Telecom connector.
8. Make sure that the arrow on the little box is facing the same direction as the arrow on the
handgrip monitors. Also make sure your hands are following the outline of the hand
placement on the hand grips.
9. Have one partner hold the receiver next to the hand grip with the arrows aligned when you
begin collecting data. Once data appears on the front panel, you will be able to move the
receiver up to 2 feet away and still take measurements.
10. Adjust the length of time for the experiment. To obtain initial heart rate data, set the timer for
60 seconds. Click on the button in the toolbar, adjust the Length accordingly, and click
Done.
11. After you press done after changing the timer press collect and wait till it finishes
12. After it finishes record data in your google document and get an average heart rate

Exercise Procedure:

1. Start with doing 25 jumping jacks


2. After doing the 25 jumping jacks record your heart rate on logger pro like you did above.
3. Next do 10 push ups then record your heart rate in logger pro
4. Lastly do 10 squats then record your heart rate in logger pro
5. Record all this information in your google document.

CONCLUSION

After collecting all of the data i have come to the conclusion that with exercise an average
persons heart rate will increase. I have also come to the conclusion that with more exercise an
average persons heart rate will increase more.
