Starting Point
When we arrived the starting point, we have
noticed an edge case scenario when the main
sport ground was temporary closed.
Junction of pavement and cycling

We found these spots are the junction point and will need
to have volunteers to help guiding parkrunners to the
correct direction.
Creating questions
Now its time to create an interview guide to prepare for your conversations. Its best to create your
guide in teams of two or three people. Youll likely need more space than this worksheet, so use your
notebook to write down additional questions. Start building questions following the structure below.

Open General
What are some broad questions you can ask to open
the conversation and warm people up?

Then Go Deep
What are some questions that can help you start to
understand this persons hopes, fears, and ambitions?
Survey Objectives
Obtain demographic data of HK people who are interested in running
To get to know HK people's habit of exercise
To understand HK peoples regularity of exercising
To understand whether people prefer running in a group or individually
To understand the motivation of people running
Open General Questions
What do you do most on weekend?
How healthy are you?
If you run, do you prefer to run individually or in a group?
Will you be interested if there is a free regular running event that you can receive your time
records?
Then Go Deep Questions
Do you agree with the below statements?
Running as a community
Run fast or be last
Peace, love and running
Run for yourself
Running is free and spontaneous
What can motivate you to go for a run?
What are the reasons for being not interested in running?
How long do you usually run?
Do you like running?
How often on average do you participate in exercises/sports?
Do you agree that the following elements are important in healthy lifestyle?
Survey
The survey was distributed through facebook,
communication tools and personal interviews, from 25th

Regarding the weekend activity, sports/exercise/hiking occupies 22%,
while other leisure, idling or rest occupies 48%, and
family/dating/friends take up another 13%.

This survey shows the pool from idling/rest and family/dating/friends

takes up 61%, which would be the potential group for improving healthy
lifestyle on the weekend.

Among the 162 responses, 34% consider their health status as healthy and 87% as neutral or above.

People see health (123), body building

(106) and happiness (62) as the major
reasons to run.
Regarding the attitude of running, over 78% people agree that running is for
themselves, free and spontaneous. Running as a community also accounts for
42% recognition of HK people.
Survey Conclusion
About the participation preference of free regular run, 33% out of 162 people will join it.

From the survey, we can conclude that the majority group of people (53%) have neutral attitude
towards their healthiness. Meanwhile, they regard exercise/sports, balanced diets and rest as the
most important elements for healthy lifestyle. This reflects that general people are lack of these
elements in their daily life.

About the regularity of sports/exercises, 28% of people have physical exercises less than once on
average. For those run lovers (62%), most of them run from 30 - 60 minutes per run. This sets the
preferred standard of running habit in Hong Kong.

To increase the running desire, health, body building and happiness are the key factors. The
survey also shows that general public disagree that running should be in very competitive
purpose but individual purpose. Running should be free, spontaneous and can act as a function
of community connection. Running is also a way to spread the message of peace and love.
Interview
After sending out the online survey, our team has also
conducted a guerrilla research. We went to the specific
site and talk to the people in that area. Such as regular
runners, nearby residents and stadium guards, in order
to get more perspectives when creating this regular
sports event.
