Re: 136 Albert Street lift announcement costs
| refer to your email, which we received on 15 May 2017, requesting information about the
cost of the lift announcements in Te Reo Maori in 135 Albert Street.
1. Whether the Council has considered doing this across the city in all civic
buildings.
This is pilot project that may be extended wider however there are currently no plans to
implement Te Reo Maori lft announcements at other council sites.
2. Who the Council had do it (the lift company).
Kone New Zealand was employed for the elevator work, and Native Audio Ltd for the
recording fees.
3. How much it cost.
Total costs for the lift announcement s were:
Elevator Work 36500
Recording Fees $700
TOTAL $6200
4. When it was done.
The new voiceovers were activated in March 2017.
The lift announcements include the Te Reo Maori floor name first, followed by the level
number in Te Reo Maori then the level number in English.
The Reo Upiift initiative aims to celebrate our unique Maori identity and encourage the use of
Te Reo Maori — written and spoken in the workplace. It is part of the counci's commitment to
Te Ao Maori (the Maori world) and Te Reo Maori, as outlined in The Auckland Plan. Whenthe initiative was implemented at 135 Albert Street, it was widely communicated across the
councils internal communications channels.
Should you believe Auckland Council has not responded appropriately to your request, you
have the right by way of complaint, under section 27(3) of the LGOIMA, to apply to the
Ombudsmen to seek an investigation and review of the decisionif you have any further
