In the Shakespearean tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, at first Romeo is seen very

haggard, not getting enough rest after his lover, Rosaline decided to rebuff his offer of
love. Knowing that Romeos love for her was only for her looks and for carnal reasons,
Rosaline, obviously did not accept this invitation, leading Romeo to his grieving stage.
Trying to mollify their friend from his pain and back to his usual self, Benvolio and
Mercutio advise Romeo to crash Capulets Royal Masquerade since Rosaline would be
there, and he could see that there are also other girls who are better than his dear
beloved. At the party, however Tybalt, a Capulet is not fooled by Romeos mask and
recognizes his voice as a Montague. He tries to pick a fight with Romeo, but is stopped
by Lord Capulet who has heard that Romeo has a reputation of being benign as claimed
by the people in Verona. Therefore, it should be tacit that Romeo will cause no trouble
at the party. Capulet sanctions Romeos presence at the party, leaving Tybalt enraged
that he cant fight a Montague, in which he declares that he shall have revenge for these
events. With Tybalt away, Romeo can finally relax and carry on with his duties that he
had set out to do. Seeing the name of Juliet along with Romeo, hence for the title of
Romeo and Juliet, one can probably guess that Romeo did meet a special someone at
this party. In fact, he met Juliet, the only daughter of the Capulet household. Ironically,
her household has great animosity towards his family household, the Montagues, which
goes the same for them. They were feuding since the dawn of ages, yet even none of
them can remember the genesis for this argument. These two families are also similar
in their statuses, being both lucrative households in Verona. In spite of this, the families
are still at each others throats. Their street brawls recur often with the same scene,
always starting out with one of the household members blaming the other household,
having allegations that they had done this or that. Nevertheless, it is ambiguous whether
Romeos love for Juliet was true love or simply puppy love. Yet, the two lovers
continue seeing each other, having clandestine meetings. Surprisingly, these two lovers
have a secret wedding after the day they had just met. This makes Romeos life both
complacent and difficult, now that he has a wife but is still dealing with the Capulets
hatred towards his family, despite the fact that he is with Juliet. For instance, Tybalt is
still not at peace after Romeo tried to crash the party. Being the one to advocate for
Romeos departure, and being denied of his wishes, Tybalt is still angry about the
incident and wants revenge. For these reasons, when Tybalt comes across Romeo on
the streets of Verona, he throws a long tirade, and wants to duel Romeo. Mercutio, who
becomes enraged by Tybalts actions wants to defend Romeos name and decides to
take duel with Tybalt. Unfortunately, Mercutio is wounded in this duel, and eventually
dies. Romeo, now distraught about Mercutio, wants to avenge his death by dueling
Tybalt. As a result, Romeo kills Tybalt. Afraid that he would be executed for his crimes,
Romeo flees the scene, leaving Verona. Not long after the incident, the Prince found out
about Romeos actions of killing Tybalt. At first, he is determined in the exile of Romeo,
but then becomes clement after learning that Romeo had tried to avenge his favorite
cousins death. Instead, the Prince decides that Romeo is banished from Verona. Hiding
outside of Verona, Romeos hands are tied and he cant do anything. Romeo needs to
put his trust in people who can abet his image to the Prince, so that he can soon be with
Juliet. He delegates these jobs to both Friar Lawrence and his loyal servant. The Friar
has the task of convincing the Prince to release Romeos banishment, whereas the
servant has the job as messenger, notifying the current news in Verona to Romeo. In
spite of having these two individuals to rely on, their plan ultimately fails when a
message to Romeo does not arrive on time. This particular message was to notify that
everything would go along as planned, and that Juliet would take a potion that would
make her appear dead, so that she can slip away from Verona to be with him.
Unfortunately, Romeos servant believed that Juliets death was real. He goes to
Romeo, informing him of her death. Distraught by this sudden news, Romeo sneaks into
Verona to see Juliet in her sepulcher. Laying on her tomb, Juliets lips and cheeks are
still rosy in color as if she were still. Despite seeing this, Romeo believes that this is
unequivocal and that Juliet is indeed dead. Gullible from his assumptions,
Romeo kills himself by drinking poison. Seconds after Romeo had committed suicide,
Juliet woke from her deep slumber. Seeing that her dear beloved was dead, Juliet stabs
herself with his sword, so that they could be together in death. Hence, the story of these
two star-crossed lovers.
