TERA TERM AUTOMATION LOG COLLECTION MACRO GUIDE

1. Install Tera Term


- Double click on teraterm-4.xx.exe to run the installation process

- Click on Next to continue

- Select I accept the agreement then click on Next

- Select destination of the installation folder (recommended leave by default), then click on
Next

- Select Compact Installation, uncheck TTSSH then click on Next

- Select Language of User Interface then click on Next

- Select destination of shortcut icon (recommended leave by default), then click on Next

- Select shortcut option, then click on Next

- Click on Install to start the installation process

- Be patient, wait until the completing screen show up, click on Next to finish the installation

2. Configure Box information
- Copy macro folder to designated location (i.e. computer desktop). Make sure there is one
folder named Logs inside the folder where macro files are stored. This folder stores log
files for all log collection sessions. The log file will be overwritten if the macro is executed
multiple times, only the last execution log is stored.

3. Run macro
- Double click Tera Term icon on computer desktop to run the software

- Enter Router/Switch IP then click OK to start telnet session

Note: In DTL02 system, in order to reach some Router/Switch, we have to perform cascaded telnet
session. So please follow normal login steps as you did with Putty software.

- Login Router/Switch with username/password as usual:

- In Tera Term UI, click on Control, then select Macro

- Select macro file to run, then click on Open

- Enter SiteID for the current box (e.g. enter 12 for site DT12), then click on OK or simply
press Enter. Please enter 0 if you are going to collect log from DIPS 8.1 MSO.

- Enter Router name with its ID for the current box), then click on OK or simply press Enter.

- Let the macro run. Tera Term will automatically closed after finishing the macro. Find log file
output in Logs folder
