Who can join


Chartered UK members must meet one of the following criteria:
RIBA recognised exams, Parts 1, 2 and 3.
Awarded a qualification in architecture which is covered by the Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC),
have access to the profession of architect in the country in which the qualification was gained and have 2 years
professional practical experience.
When practising as, and using the title architect in the UK you must also be registered with the Architects Registration
Board (ARB). Information about the ARB can be found at www.arb.org.uk
If you reside outside of the UK, please email membership.development@riba.org or look on the RIBA website at
www.architecture.com

Step one: Calculate your subscription fee


Membership runs from January to December, therefore if you join part of the way through the year, you will only pay for the
remaining months of the current year. For example, if you are living in the UK and have been qualified for less than 6 years
and join in May, your membership subscription for 2017 will be 172.67.
Please see the below table to work out your pro-rata fee based on the month you join.
