Recognition of Solutions
SOA approach supports imperatives of the CJCS Joint IAMD Vision 2020:
1. Incorporate, fuse, exploit, & leverage every bit of information available regardless of
S
source or classification, & distribute it as needed to US forces & selected partners.
2. Make interdependent Joint and Combined force employment the baseline. S
3. Target development, modernization, fielding, and science and technology efforts to
S
meet specific gaps in IAMD capabilities, all the while stressing affordability and
interoperability.
4. Focus Passive Defense efforts on addressing potential capability and P
capacity shortfalls in air and missile defense.
5. Establish and pursue policies to leverage partner contributions. P

Terms of Reference (source Wikipedia)

Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural style that supports
service-orientation.
Service-orientation is a way of thinking in terms of services and service-based
development and the outcomes of services.
Services are unassociated, loosely coupled units of functionality that are self-
contained.
Web services can implement a SOA. They make functional building-blocks
accessible over standard Internet protocols independent of platforms and
programming languages. These services can represent either new applications
or just wrappers around existing legacy systems to make them network-enabled.
Geographic Information System (GIS), also known as a geographical information
system or geospatial information system, is any system for capturing, storing,
analyzing, managing and presenting data and associated attributes which are
spatially referenced to Earth.
