Lesson Procedure:
Set Induction
1. Students are asked what is important in a communication.
2. Teacher gets students to list out the types of communication one can have
- family
- friends
- business
- strangers

Teaching Input [Learning Tasks/ Supportive Information]


1. Teacher discusses in general why is it important to have an effective communication.
2. Teacher gives out materials on Developing Effective Communication Skills.

3. Teacher goes through the steps in class on how to search for news report online:
i. Teacher switches on the Internet provider (Google/ Morzilla/ Yahoo)
ii. Teacher types in Developing Effective Communication Skills
iii. Teacher clicks on any of the website/ title shown.
iv. Teacher guides students to go through the article at a glance and see if they understand
the article. (Read a line from each paragraph to see if students understand. If they
dont, teach them to click out of the webpage and go to the next article. Repeat until
students find an article that they are able to understand.)
4. Teacher instructs students to open a thesaurus/ dictionary page before reading the article.
5. Teacher goes through the whole article with the students.
i. Whenever students encounter words they dont understand, teach them to use the online
dictionary/ thesaurus to search for the meaning of the word. (Reminder: Different
students have different language level, so cater to ALL students for this lesson unless
students are able to do on their own.
6. After going through the whole article, students are to answer the comprehension questions.

Practice [Part-task Practice/ Supportive Information]


1. Students continue with Exercise 2 if there are no other questions.
2. Teacher goes through Exercise 2 whereby students need to fill in the table with the
information given within the website that has been stated in their exercise practice.
3. Teacher will go through with the students if students have problems filling in the table.

Consolidation
1. One or two students present their information.
