Brainstorm

Brainstorm

I have participated in a brainstorm with the group to develop ideas on the potential film
subjects in order to help decide on a topic for the assignment.

After looking at the options we have settled on the trainers idea for our project, we will
begin developing next lesson. We have settled on this because it presents a wider
opportunity of filming options and we feel it would be more work but presents the best
possibility of a better grade.

Cereal bar

The filming site is not too strict, could film indoors/outdoors.

Props would be required.
We would need to plan and design a new cereal bar (Packaging, name, and
slogan?)
Close up on the actors/ product (Camera angle)
Roughly 1-2 actors would be required.
To avoid clichs the advertisement could be approached in a more casual/funny
way rather than serious.
Voice overs/narration or voice actor would be required.

Myr thoughts on this advert was that it would essentially be difficult to create a unique
advert which is not clich or cheesy therefor if we were to tackle this advert I have
decided that I would need to try and make it more humours to set it apart from other
cereal bar adverts. I have acknowledged that for this assignment I would need to create
and design packaging and a name for the cereal bar in the advert, which could turn out
difficult due to how a derail bar packet bends.

College

Genre could be serious but light and friendly.

Wide shot angles would be used to pan the college and close ups would be used
during interviews. (Camera angles)
Interviews of students and teachers would be required in small amounts broken
up throughout the video.
Props would not necessarily be required however during the interview it could be
wise to add some items around for a set e.g. books on the desk.
Voices would be needed during the interviews; soft music could play throughout
to fill in the silence. (making sure the audio is louder than the music)
Multiple actors would be required.
Permission would be required from actors in order to use faces and voices on our
product.

There were two options for the college task, I decided if we were to go for the college
option I wouldnt do the specific creative media task but do the college as a whole, this

therefor gives more of a variety of content, as well as making it easier to get hold of
people to interview as the odds of people being busy has been reduced. I have already
discussed that I would need actors and we have noted that students from a drama class
would be willing to take part as actors. The camera would mainly be fixed in certain areas
for interviews.

Radio

Most of the filming would involve interviews with DJs and footage of them doing
their jobs (actors would play the role).
Video mainly consists of wide shots and close ups of the room and the
controls/people (camera angle).
Drama studio control room has been noted as a potential filming site.
We would need two to three actors representing the DJs. (weather/music/chatter
person)
For the audio of the film we would have music playing throughout the video in the
background, other sound effects and narrations would be played on top but with
the volume adjusted so it is louder than the music.
This film would only need to be filmed in one room, resulting in little to no
changes in scenery other than a panoramic of the studio.
We decided that this topic would probably be our least likely approach due to the
lack of opportunities it presents.

As noted this is the least likely approach, it presents not much room for creativity and it
is also limited regarding set and content, if we were to do this I have chosen the Buxton
music room as a set, as well as the lights and sound equipment to create effects in the
drama room (Buxton site). I would have a few actors to try and make it seem like a busy
and functional music station rather than having the same person. For this assignment the
camera will be on a tripod fixed on certain points, not many moving camera scenes.

Brand of trainers

There is a wide range of filming opportunities, but mainly filming outside due to
the sporty purpose of the shoe type.
For audio we would have music playing in the background, energetic music and
potentially a voice over.
Close up on the legs and trainers. (camera angle)
We would need to design our own props. (Purchasing plain white canvas shoes
and painting/applying the design).
We would only need 1 to 2 actors.
High tops with a thick spongy soul would present opportunity to insert LED lights
in the bottom which could be flaunted as a USP.
Stop motion or film focused on the legs and feet (small changes such as different
trousers/skirts but with different backgrounds). possible video idea

I have decided to use this task for my video advert for TV (New brand of Trainers)

The brand of trainers topic peeked my interest in particular, this one seems to present
the wider opportunity of filming ideas, and I would need to design our own trainers, I
have decided that if we pick up some plain white canvas shoes we could apply the

chosen design with fabric paint/ink, and as a unique selling point if I were to pick up a
pair with a thick soul, wed be able to cut into the heel in order to inset lights.

Other notes

The drama class would be willing to take part as actors.

Music rooms in Buxton campus have been noted as a possible film site for the
Radio advert.
Maple Park has been noted as a possible film site for the trainers advert.
