Overview

This IBM FlashSystem A9000 hardware refresh introduces an additional 64 GB


(R)

of RAM to bring the system RAM up to 256 GB, making it capable of handling very
large and demanding workloads.

The hardware refresh is supported by IBM FlashSystem A9000/A9000R Software


V12.1. This version introduces reduced downtime risk for critical business
applications using HyperSwap , and simplification and cost reduction of data-at-rest
(R)

encryption deployment through local key management. For more information about
IBM FlashSystem A9000/A9000R Software V12.1, refer to Software Announcement
217-196, dated May 16, 2017.

Key prerequisites

There are no prerequisites.

Note: The addition is introduced as a separate and mandatory order item for all new
orders of IBM FlashSystem A9000 (9836-415 or 9838-415) storage systems. The
systems are preloaded with IBM FlashSystem A9000 Software V12.1 (5639-FS1)
that supports the additional memory.

This IBM FlashSystem A9000 RAM addition is introduced as a separate and


mandatory order item for all new orders of IBM FlashSystem A9000 (9836-415
or 9838-415) storage systems. The systems are preloaded with IBM FlashSystem
A9000 Software V12.1 (5639-FS1) to support the additional memory.

IBM FlashSystem A9000 RAM addition is not available as an upgrade to existing


systems.
