The researcher is interested in holstering positive student attitudes science by

using appropriate teaching methods, materials and educational experiences via this
research. The researcher is all interested about the possible determinants of attitude
towards science namely students, teacher & learning environment. Earlier researchers
find this issue to have a vast possibility and that there is no instrument to measure attitude
in a holistic matter because attitude is viewed as an abstract matter. Therefore, they
believe that much improvement needs to be made and problem areas need to be assessed
before further study can be made relating to this matter. The researcher tried to answer
questions pertaining to the influence of student, teacher and learning environment factor
in relation to the students attitude towards science at 3rd grade levels. The researcher
conducted a quantitative design type research that is non experimental which is
correlation type whereby the researcher tries to establish relationship between the
variables involved. There are 4 types of variables that are: (i) Independent variables:
Learning environment, teacher, and student. (ii) Dependent variables: Student attitude
towards science. (iii) Extraneous: Learn environment, teacher, and student. (iv)
Confounding: Learning environment, teacher, and student. 7 find the issues & concerns in
this research relevant to me as a student teacher, as by understanding students attitudes
towards science, I can plan my lesson to faster the attitudes towards science by using
appropriate & suitable teaching & learning models, instructional tools, classroom
management skills and so on.

The target population was schools & school districts in the state at Oregon. The
subjects were students of grade 4, 7 and 9. Participants were selected via stratified,
random sampling. The subject represented the target population because samples were
obtained from widely represented urban & rural conditions. The research will be
applicable to my teaching situation & the students I teach because the participants were
students that are of a variety of socio economic background & ethnic like that in
Malaysia. I am part of the target population as I was considered as independent &
extraneous & confounding variable. Thus, will be able to facilitate the attitudes towards
science since I know the population involved.

The instrument used was an inventory that was developed known as Inventory of
Affective Aspects of Schooling (IAAS). The IAAS is valid & reliable source of
measurement because it has moderate degrees of internal structure in means of
relationship between the items. The instrument is appropriate as it is able to measure all
the criterion variables without causing any response problem. The research will be
applicable for my teaching, but some of the criterion of the instruments needs to be
altered to match our curriculum, cultural background and other related matters.

The research design used in this research was non experimental of core relational
type. Core relation design of multiple regressions was used to examine relationship of
several variables to determine a single outcome variable. Procedure used to called data is
via inventory. The IAAS was special in the sense of it was created from reference to prior
inventories to research various aspects. The research was bias free because research was
conducted in schools of rural & urban area, plus it is not gender bias because both male &
female was involved. The research can be replicated because the procedure was detailed
very precisely.

Type of data analysis was determination at percentage of criterion variance

accounted by each class variable. Type of statistical analysis used in the research was
correlation analysis & progression analysis. This statistical analysis was suitable because
it managed to prove which variables were related & which was not. The research
managed to show relationship between student perception and teacher quality toward
science attitude. Fatalism among students disrupted the study at the variable relationship
to science attitude. Finally learning environment variable is said to have not much effect
at science attitude. The results were quantitatively significant because data that was
obtained was able to prove relationship between the variables & attitude towards science.
Therefore, the data is practical of use & important. Yes, because as a science teacher I
would like to know my students attitude towards science so that I can prepare material &
lesson to change their attitude towards a positive one.

The researchers purpose for the study is to find the relationship between the
stated extraneous & confounding variables towards the dependent variables in the study.

The researcher found that relationship between the variables increases as students are in
higher grades, and that all the variables are equally prominent. The researcher realizes
that fatalism among students has a large effect towards students attitudes in science. The
researcher interpreted the data via correlation coefficient whereby standards have been
preset, whereby value is less than the preset the variable has no relation to the study and
cavers. The researcher suggested that to apply the research results to instructional
situation teachers quality & learning environment needs to be improved to influence
students, to create the attitude towards science. As for future research projects the
researcher plans on testing the model & relationship with the constructs by using
procedure of path analysis @ LISREL. The researchers issues & concerns me as it has
some influence on my teaching situation as I will be able to provide learning activities,
teaching materials and learning environment that is best suited to encourage development
of the science attitudes among students.

The researcher wanted to know the influence at the variables in this study toward
science attitude, so that in the future educators can approach students via multiple ways,
approaches, materials, classroom management skills and so on. From the research, he
realized there are factors that influence the science attitudes. Thus he suggested certain
models to perform to find out more at the influences on science attitudes such as
procedure of path analysis (LISREL). The researcher concluded that strengthening
teacher quality and learning environment will enhance students outcome in the area of
science attitude.
