The Sacrament of Matrimony
71 Marriage is an image of God and his relationship with the people.

72 Marriage is a permanent decision and not entered into by whim. It is a

symbolic gift of God to remind us that its an act based on love and commitment.
Its a vocation and a calling to stay together.

73 Marriage is about self-giving, faithfulness, and openness. Its a commitment

give each other the love that God blessed us.

Marriage is also a sign of how much Christ loved his people by sacrificing
himself to save us from sin. Its an act of communion between him and his
followers.
The Sacrament of Matrimony
74 Sexual union is a sign of growth and commitment between married couples.
Its based on consent, which means theyre ready to give themselves to each
other.
Their relationship is strengthened by their children, and their family is
strengthened by the relationship of each other.

75 Union between non-christian couple is still recognized as a holy sanctimony.

A marriage is still valid even without it being recognized by an ordained minister.
Seeds of the Word and Imperfect Situations
76 The gospel of the family focuses on the couples who are still growing and who
are struggling, and to help them become closer to God and to each other.

77 Through Christ, human relationships become more deep, which includes

unity, openness to life, and fidelity. And when the family continues the virtue of
overcoming evil, they become more rooted in their marriage.

78 When the people who are living together, married civilly, or divorced sees
things through Christ, their marriage becomes stronger.

79 When pastors give advices to couples who are experiencing problems in their
relationships, he should avoid being judgemental and assess the situation
accordingly.

83 The pope talks about the contradiction between marriage as a sanctuary of

life and abortion as form of rejection of life. No human has the right to terminate a
life because no one is bestowed the power to own a life.

84 Educational institutions cannot replace the education given to them by

parents. Parents are obliged to educate their children.

85 The Church is called to cooperate with parents in fostering the education of

the child.
The Family and the Church
86 The Church appreciates families who are faithful to the Lord and to each
other, because through the Lord, they see the beauty in the sacrament of
marriage.

87 The Church is good for the family because it strengthens the ties between the
partners, and the family is good for the Church because it builds the Christian
community.

88 Through the teachings of the Church, the couple experiences the beauty of
fatherhood and motherhood, learn how to forgive each other, and support each
other during difficult situations.
