HALF CANT IDENTIFY BROWN, HORWATH

June 12, 2017 (Ottawa, ON) A new Mainstreet poll nds over half of Ontarians cant name Patrick Brown or
Andrea Horwath when asked who leads the Progressive Conservatives or the Ontario NDP. The Mainstreet
poll has a margin of error of +/- 2.19%, 19 times out of 20.

With one year until Election Day in Ontario, it appears the PCs led by Patrick Brown are poised to form
government with a 14 point lead (43%) over the Kathleen Wynne led Liberals (29%) and a 19 point lead over
the Andrea Horwath led NDP (24%), said Quito Maggi, President of Mainstreet Research.

When we asked people to identify the leaders of Ontario's political parties, Wynne faired much better than
Brown or Horwath. Just 8% of Ontario residents did not know who the Leader of the Ontario Liberals was
compared to 78% who could correctly identify Wynne. Just 48% could correctly identify Brown as the
Leader of Ontario's PCs with 44% who did not know. Only 44% of people could correctly identify Horwath
and 48% of respondents did not know who the leader of the Ontario NDP is.

When it comes to putting a price on carbon and Ontario's cap and trade system, a majority of Ontarians
do not approve of the current system, 54% with 40% strongly disapproving. This number comes down to
just 11% among Liberal voters who overwhelmingly approve of cap and trade (79%). The bad news for
Wynne is that 56% of undecided voters disapprove compared to just 26% who approve.

89% of PC voters approve of the plan to abolish Cap and trade which is signicantly higher among all
voters (48%). Again, the bad news for Brown and the PCs is that among undecided voters, the plan to
abolish cap and trade has the just 29% approval. The plan to abolish the cap and trade plan makes people
equally more likely (30%) to vote for the PCs and less likely (29%).

ENERGY
SHOWDOWN

NEW Conservative Party Leader, Andrew Scheer, is

against a carbon tax - but the PCs Patrick Brown has
made it his energy and environment plan.

Heres what Ontarians make of it.

Ontario has a new program called cap and trade, also described as carbon
pricing, which is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Critics say
that cap and trade has increased the cost of home heating and gasoline in
Ontario. Do you approve or disapprove of the provincial government's cap
and trade program?
Does the Ontario government's cap and trade program make you more likely
or less likely to vote for the Ontario Liberal party in the next provincial
election?
The Progressive Conservatives are promising to abolish the provincial
government's cap and trade program. Do you approve or disapprove of the
Progressive Conservative plan to abolish the cap and trade program?
Does the Progressive Conservative policy to abolish the Ontario cap and
trade program make you more likely or less likely to vote for the Ontario PC
Party in the next provincial election?
The Progressive Conservatives plan to replace the cap and trade program
with a carbon tax. This would maintain a carbon price on home heating and
gasoline. Do you approve or disapprove of the Ontario PC party proposal to
put a price on greenhouse gas emissions though the introduction of a new
Ontario carbon tax?
Does the Progressive Conservative policy to establish a carbon tax make you
more likely or less likely to vote for the Progressive Conserrvatives in the next
provincial election?
