Reco Questions: (Online)-

1. How long have you known the candidate?

I have known Prashant since 2013. Since I was the In-charge of the Artificial lift team at
IOGPT, Prashant has been reporting directly to me for the past 2.5 years.

2. If you were to coach this candidate with respect to how s/he works within a team,
what would you advise that s/he does well? What would you advise the candidate to
do differently? Provide specific examples that support your advice.(300 word max)

If I were to comment on his team skills , I would say marvelous . At Artificial lift department we work as a family &
not just as a professional team. I must say that Prashant is the soul of this team. He has a charismatic personality
and a very optimistic outlook which makes him a great person to have around. Today most of the senior members
want him to lead critical projects and he is always the first choice as a coworker on various projects. I strongly feel
that such a reputation is not only because of his excellent technical skills that he has developed in the past years
but also because of his courteous nature and respect for his senior, peers and subordinates.
I vividly recall an incident when a external NABL accreditation audit for various labs of IOGPT was scheduled .
There were severe leakages in the test apparatus at Artificial Lift lab and there were hardly any resources and time
before the audit. However, rising to the occasion, Prashant along with some of the artificial Lift team members
,including me , worked through the entire night and were finally able to resolve the issue before the audit. His
dedication to the cause helped us in getting the NABL accreditation. As per my observation , he respects his team
mates, listens patiently , communicates well and works for the team goals. He expresses his thoughts well but at
times he should put them across more strongly ,if he genuinely feels that those ideas will ultimately help the team
achieve its goal. That night he had advised to reassemble the apparatus ,as he had encountered a similar leakage in
the past, but we avoided to save on time , However later the system had to be reassembled.

Since the
Prashant has the correct blend of peoples skills. He has dealt with several vendors in
negotiating the tender terms and has successfully executed the revamp of the Artificial Lift
lab facilities. Apart from his technical expertise, his team skills have been instrumental in
floating as well as managing several high value tenders for IOGPT. I have also seen him
deliver several impromptu project presentations to the top management of the various
assets of ONGC. In one of the projects an interim presentation was to be given on a short
notice at one of the assets. He managed to infer the essence of the comprehensive analysis
and using his rapport with other people across different domains recently presented it to the
management. The project came up to the expectation of the asset and he was appreciated
for successfully dealing with this complex project in a relatively short period of time.
Prashant has learnt the meticulous procedure of making contracts and tendering apart from
the ERP system at ONGC.As on date he is also dealing with commercial procurement
matters involving financial knowledge. His ability to connect with his team and people
across domains has helped him in achieving this. But as he grows higher, Prashant needs to
follow and learn the give and take policy required to be a successful manager. I would
advise him to take more sessions on mentoring his juniors and spending more informal
time with his team members. This will help him build a trust which will increase the team
output and efficiency when he is in a lead position.

3. If you were to coach this candidate on his/her professional development, in what

areas would you suggest s/he focus? What areas are strengths on which s/he can
build? Provide specific examples that support your advice.(300 word max)
I remember him as an innovative individual who ventures into challenging projects. He recently
presented a novel method for detecting failures in rod pumped wells in IORS 2015 conference, a
method that took him 9 months to develop and involved rigorous simulations and analysis.
In the past 2.5 years I found that Prashant has inherent leadership potential .He handles
pressure situations with a great poise .He also has excellent communications skills and I have
seen him deliver several impromptu project presentations to the top management of the
various assets of ONGC .One of the projects had over 300 wells and was to be done on within a
week. He performed macro simulation and presented the essence to the management
recently .The project came up to the expectation of the management at the field and he was
appreciated for successfully dealing with this complex project in relatively short period of time
by IOGPT also .

.Prashant has strong analytical and quantitative skills and has learnt the meticulous procedure
of making contracts and tendering apart from the ERP system at ONGC. However courses in
corporate finance would help him further understand the economics of the industry and would
be of great help to him in future as a top management professional in the industry.
Prashant did not have much experience of ISO standard auditing when he joined our team He
has become a certified internal auditor for ISO 9001 ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 and has played
a vital role in carrying out internal audits for IOGPT. Over the past few years, I have seen him
grow as a management consultant. He should add value to his existing quality and management
consulting skills through relevant courses in MBA or otherwise .

4. If you had the opportunity to work with this candidate in the future, would you?
Why or why not? (300 word max)

The past 2.5 years have been an absolute pleasure working with him . When compared to other
officers in similar roles with whom I have worked with in my 33 years of career, I find Prashant
to be exceptionally skilled and competent. He has worked on nonconventional projects such as
improvised pig lift & Beam gas compressor. These innovations may take time in getting
implemented but we can foresee a huge savings, if implemented . Moreover Its wonderful to see
him deliver fantastic training sessions with so much zeal and energy . In the past 2.5 years he has
delivered over 15 sessions ,training more than 400 professional and received excellent feedbacks
from the officers. He recently added hands on software session to the existing trainings , an idea
well appreciated by the officer across ONGC . In 2014 he was given ONGC merit award for
excellent contribution in imparting training to field engineers .

Moreover when he joined, his excellent communication skills & enthusiastic attitude got him
involved with various activities apart from his core consultancy project work. He worked as a
member of multifunctional team for organizing TAC , a high profile annual meeting attended by
the heads of various fields of ONGC. In 2015 , he became a core member of the organizing
committee and manages the entire arrangements for the TAC meeting from logistics to outside
vendors and from corporate communication to hospitality . During theses assignments he has
developed strong network of ONGC officers and has leveraged it at various occasions for
streamlining consultancy projects another reason why he is assigned challenging projects . I
thinks his excellent team skills and leadership abilities along with a humble attitude and
technical skills make him a wonderful person to work with.

has contributed at every step to help the team achieve its best. A live example for this is the
way he has adapted himself to a very experienced team of Artificial lift trainers and
immensely contributed in overcoming several challenges posed by soaring expectations of
the management at various oil and gas fields of ONGC.

I am aware of his plans of pursuing an MBA as a step towards career and skill
enhancement. I second his decision. Given his potential and capabilities, I am fully
confident that an MBAS will help him build his professional and managerial skills further
which will definitely be an asset to any team or organization with which he is associated.
Hence, in near future if he comes back to us or happens to be under my supervision, I
would gladly take him in.
