I started my project by researching University of Pittsburgh, Temple University, and Penn State
University. I selected these schools because they all have the major that I am interested in, and
they are all in Pennsylvania, which is the area I want to stay in. I specifically selected these
schools because these schools are known for the majors that I am interested in. I also selected
these school because I like the environment that surrounds the campus.
Penn State Universitys academic offerings that I am interested in are Nursing, Engineering, and
Physics. The location of Penn State Main, is separated from everything but after a while I feel
that I would be okay with it. I would just need to adjust to the environment. Penn State Main
offers a variety of different clubs and activities for their students to join and participate in. Some
of the clubs and activities that I would consider joining, if I attended this university, are Asian
Undergraduate Student Association, Biomedical Engineering Society Student Chapter PSU, and
Women Racial Ethnic Diversity Intercultural Network. Also the population at this campus is
large which is what I am looking for. Overall, I believe I can afford this college. This college is
the least in price to attend. This university for me is in the middle of the road. I believe that I
have a good chance in getting in. The requirements to apply for this college are an SAT score
around 1100, or an ACT score around 25. Also one would need a GPA of 3.55 or above. Another
requirement for this university are letter recommendations, and an essay.
In conclusion, the universities that I researched are the ones that I am considering. I am planning
on majoring in either, the medical, engineering, or business fields. All of the colleges I am
looking at have those majors. The colleges I chose are different in type. University of Pittsburgh
is a reach school, Penn State University is a middle of the road, and Temple University is a
safety school. Pittsburgh has the best nursing program and is pretty affordable. Penn State has a
wide variety of organizations and clubs to join and have a large student population. Temple is
affordable and has a good student population size. Pittsburgh would be relatively hard to get into
because of their nursing program, Penn State is in a different environment than I am used to, and
Temple is situated in a bad area.
Sincerely,
Cayla
