Students have experience in reading and using
the types of maps used in this lesson

The geographical processes that produce landforms, Students are familiar with the research skills,
including a case study of one type of landform, such as processes and expectations of this class
mountains, volcanoes, riverine or coastal landforms
(ACHGK050) Students are familiar with the use of ICT tools
The spiritual, cultural and aesthetic value of landscapes and such as Weebly, Padlet, Coggle, Answer
landforms for people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Garden, Slidely, Kahoot.
Islander Peoples (ACHGK049)
Students are familiar with the use of Google
Applications such as Earth, Maps, and Images.

**This is the second lesson in a sequence of four


lessons focused on geographical inquiry.

As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:


Demonstrate the ability to develop and interpret geographical questions in a geographical inquiry research
task
Demonstrate that they can use criteria such as accuracy, reliability, currency and usefulness to select
information relevant to their inquiry
Show they can read and interpret data and features of Ariel maps including satellite with Google Maps and
Google Earth in the inquiry

Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation: Provision for students at educational risk:

Teacher has prepared a Weebly website (with all the pages) Students are given the opportunity to work together,
for the students to access. which promotes their peer learning and mentoring.
Write Weebly URL up on the board so the class can access
it: The ICT tools chosen and demonstrated allow success
Weebly: http://analarahass.weebly.com for students with beginning or advanced content
comprehension.
Teacher has set up all the links for the students to follow as
ICT tools are introduced to the class.

Students will be invited into class with their ICT devices and asked to sit in

website on Investigation day 2.

Padlet will be used as an interactive brainstorming tool, where 2

- They will be asked to post some of the things they learnt in the
previous lesson.

Students will be given some time to a follow along and explore Creative
Commons and Free to use Images themselves for the Geographical
Landform they have chosen.

Teacher will draw the attention to the front of the class where a
demonstration on how students can add maps and other features onto the
digital posters.
- This should remind students of the mapping skills they have learnt in the
previous lesson.
- This will assist students in answering the lessons focus questions.

15 mins Students will use their research and mapping skills to research the lessons
geographical focus question related to their landform.

Teachers will walk around the classroom monitoring students during both
research tasks.

6. Reflections
Students are to individually reflect on the lesson/ day 2 of the investigation.
Digital Poster:
They will use Google Docs on the Weebly website they created last lesson https://piktocchart.com
to record their reflection.

This document is to be shared with the teacher using the teachers email
address provided on the Investigation Weebly Website.

They will be instructed:


1) Each reflection is to be dated and must answer the reflection questions
listed:

What is something interesting I learnt today?;
What is something I want to find out more about?

Students must ensure their answers to the focus questions are completed
for todays investigation and theyre poster has the relevant information on
it.
