Ethics is about how laws, rules, etc guides a person's behavior.

Morals reflect
convictions about what is correct, what isn't right, what is simply, what is unjustifiable, what is
great, and what is terrible regarding human conduct. Moral standards and qualities fill in as a
manual for conduct on an individual level, at a job, and at the accurate level. Justice is to treat
everyone the same. Ethics should be put under the Virtue Framework. This is how a person
decide what type of person they should be.
My first rule is Always be honest to others even if it hurts them. This rule is important
because you should always be honest no matter what the circumstance is. The text states In
other words, what matters is doing the right thing because its right, not for some ulterior
motive(Sandel, What is the Supreme Principle of Morality?,13). This means that you should not
keep things hidden and always do what's right. This connects to my claim because in a position
you are put in, you have to reflect on how your character will be developed in the long run.
My second rule is Do no harm unless a lion is chasing you. This is important because
some circumstances involved in not doing the right thing. The text states if reasons determines
my will, then the will becomes the power to choose independent of the dictates of our nature or
inclination(Sandel, What is the Supreme Principle of Morality?,38). This means that you have to
decide to take action sometimes without reflecting on the outcome. Your safety always comes
first. This connects to my claim because in this situation you have to will have to do what's best
for your safety.
My third rule is Respect others even if they dont respect you. This is important
because everyone ought to be dealt with similarly and with respect regardless of what their
conditions which implies no one ought to be tormented or treated in a brutal or corrupting way.
The text states Natural duties are universal. We owe them to persons as rational beings. They
include the duty to treat persons with respect, to do justice, to avoid cruelty, and so on
(Obligations: What do we owe to other people?, 3). This connects to my claim because you
have to respect others at all times to develop your true character. This is how you aim to
become a better citizen in the world.
My fourth rule is Do what's best for the majority even if you sacrifice one person. This is
important because the more is the better in any circumstance. The text states You realize
that you can turn the trolley car onto the side track, killing the one worker, but sparing the five
(The Runaway Trolley, 6). This means that you should only sacrifice one because the majority
rules. This connects to my claim because in this situation, the right thing will be to save the
majority because you have a chance to save five people lives in a deadly situation. Saving five
is better than saving only one.
My fifth rule is to Listen to other ideas even if you disagree with them. This is important
because everyone has a right to share their ideas freely. The text states Only a categorical
imperative, such as treat persons with respect, as ends in themselves, can qualify as an
imperative of morality. (Sandel, What is the Supreme Principle of Morality?,) This means that
even if you disagree with a person you should still give them the same treatment you want. This
connects to my claim because in a circumstance where you disagree with a person, the right
thing to do is just listen and hear their ideas.
My sixth rule is Always be a helping hand unless the situation is bad. This is important
because you should always do the right things. The text states ...to do justice, to avoid
cruelty... (Obligations: What do we owe to other people?, 3). This means that we should never
go through plans that involves brutality. This connects to my claim because in a circumstance
that involves doing something bad, you should avoid it immediately. This will let you know what
type of person you truly are.
My seventh rule is Choose the right path even if its the hard path. This is important
because you should not result in bad decisions even if it makes life easier. You should work
hard and get to where you want to go. The text states Acting morally means acting out of duty
- for the sake of the moral law (What is the Supreme Principle of Morality?,62). This means that
before you make a move, consider the maxim or rule on which you are acting. This connects to
my claim because in this situation you have to understand what type of person you are. This will
let you know are you a good citizen or a bad citizen with the actions you choose.
My eighth rule is Be a good influence because the youth needs a leader. This is
important because the youth will know how society works. The text states According to Kant,
the moral worth of an action consists not in the consequences that flow from it, but in the
intention from which the act is done(What is the Supreme Principle of Morality?,10). This
means that by telling the youth to think before they do something, the intended act could be a
positive act. This connects to my claim because in this circumstance you have to help people
understand what is right from wrong.
My ninth rule is Always believe yourself even if you're racing a cheetah. This is
important because you have to face your fears to succeed in life. The text states Isnt
everything I do motivated by some desire or inclination determined by outside influences?
(What is the Supreme Principle of Morality?, 30). This means that we have to satisfy our
desires. This connects to my claim because in this position you have to keep moving forward to
get to where you want to be.
My tenth rules is Help others in need even if you have problems of your own. This is
important because you have to make sure everyone well around you. The text states Natural
duties are universal (Obligations: What do we owe to other people?, 3) This means that it
should be a common duty to make sure everyone feel great. This connects to my claim
because you to aim to be a better person.

I developed my list by thinking of things that will make the world better. I came to a
conclusion that not every situation is gonna have a great outcome. You have to do what's best
in the situation to define who you are as a person. One revision that I made was removing Be
Determined from my list. This has nothing to do with making the world better, it's more of a self
thing.
I would make smarter decisions if I lived by these rules. These rules will make me reflect
on my true character on situations that I am put in. Society will be ran so much better if
everyone owned up to these rules. You should always treat others with respect. We will all have
the same qualities that make us all human and not anything less.
