CPT 194 and 194.1: COMMUNITY-BASED REHABILITATION

Course Description: This course aims to introduce the students to community-based


rehabilitation as a strategy for community development. This course discusses human rights
particularly for persons with disability, it also focus on the issues confronting PWDs, as well
as the principles and structure of CBR internationally and in the Philippines. This course
will highlight the role of physical therapists in promoting health and preventing disease.
Community profiling will be taught and health promotion and disease prevention programs
will be conducted during laboratory sessions.

Course Credit: 3 units (2 unit lectures; 1 units laboratory)

Course Objective: At the end of the course, Physical Therapy students will be familiarized
on the importance of community based rehabilitation and healthcare delivery system of
Philippines as well as the significance and role of a physical therapist in the delivery of
community healthcare services.

To facilitate learning in this subject, we request that students comply with the following
course policies.

1. Attendance in all class sessions and activities. Students who are absent for more than
20% of class sessions may be failed from the subject.
2. Punctuality in all class sessions and activities.
3. Preparation for class sessions and laboratory activities. As college students, we expect
that you have read a substantial amount of literature related to the topics to be
discussed before coming to class.
4. On time submission of output, avoid PLAGIARISM; give credit where credit is due.

Lecture
Quiz = 20%
Major/Long Exam = 40%
Classroom Activity (Small Group) = 20%
Output (individual reflection paper) = 20%

Laboratory

Community Output/Documentation (Group Output) = 40%

Midterm grade+Final grade/ 2 = CBR Grade

***Grade consultation will be held after every term exam
