Job Summary

Central Washington University seeks a dynamic individual with relevant K-12 teaching experience to join our te
mathematics teaching candidates. The expected start date is September 16, 2017.

Science and mathematics teacher education programs at CWU have started the process to implement the nation
model for STEM teacher preparation. This position is a new Master Teacher" position for the CWU UTeach pro
Teaching Program, for middle-level and secondary science and mathematics teacher candidates. The position is
approval of the program curriculum.

Job Duties

Classroom Instruction:
- Teach introductory courses for the STEM Teaching Program (teaching certification and endorsement for middle
and mathematics teacher candidates)
- Develop and work to continually to improve curricula, syllabi, learning outcomes, activities, and assessments in
other faculty in the STEM Teaching Program
- Model effective classroom instruction
- Aid in the collection of assessment data for the STEM Teaching Program
- Develop inquiry-based curriculum for STEM Teaching Program courses

Supervise Clinical Field Experiences in STEM and Partnership Development


- Supervise teacher candidates' clinical practice experiences in the field, including working with CWU field supe
student teaching supervision support
- Help to develop and implement induction experiences for teacher candidates in the STEM Teaching Program
- Help to develop and implement STEM professional development experiences for mentor teachers working with
Teaching Program
- Assist the STEM Teaching Program Field Coordinator and Associate Director of the School of Education with
coordinating clinical practice experiences for the STEM Teaching Program
- Help to develop and implement professional development for mentor teachers
- Work with school districts to develop partnerships

Program Support
- Serve on the STEM Teaching Program Steering Committee
- Attend relevant UTeach and STEM Teaching Program professional development
- Participate in university committees affecting STEM teacher education

Minimum Qualifications

Masters degree in science, mathematics, science or mathematics education, or related field (i.e., M.S., M.

At least three years experience in the last ten years teaching science or mathematics in grades 6-12

Demonstrated ability to work with school district partners on professional development


Demonstrated ability to apply STEM education research supported best-practices in the classroom

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching certification with endorsement in middle level or secondary mathematics, science, or related fie

Demonstrated ability to supervise teacher candidates' clinical practice experiences, including student teac

Outstanding teaching ability demonstrated by teaching awards, National Board Certification, letters of co
recognition of the candidates teaching abilities

Prior work with underrepresented groups in STEM or education fields

Experience with Project-Based Instruction

Experience with induction programs

Salary: $50,000-$60,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience)

Appointment: Full-time lecturer, 10 month appointment


Working Conditions: Working environment may include office, indoor classroom, and outdoor classroom envir

district sites. Incumbent must be able to meet the physical demands of office work, travel by car, and moving bet
