Lesson Plan in Science 10

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students must be able to:
a. To identify the types of waves
b. To explain the different types of waves
c. To relate the importance of waves in human

II. Subject Matter

SM: Waves and its classification
Reference: Connecting Science A progressive approach
Materials: Visual Aid, marker, Speaker/ audio

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
1. Review
What is Plate Tectonics?
What are the Three Plate boundaries? Define each.
2. Motivation
The teacher will play 10 minus one song and the students will have to write the title
of the song in each. The most number of songs they will guess have a plus three (3)
on their quiz later.

B. Developmental Activities
1. Introduction of the lesson
What are the different genres you heard on the song?
What instruments they used in playing the song?
How do you identify the instrument that the song playing?
2. Presentation of the lesson
What will happen if I pluck/strum the guitar?
The strings of a guitar will form a wave.

Wave is described as a disturbance that travels through a medium from one

location to another location.
Wave Pulse is a single disturbance

Two important things that we have to know about waves

a. Waves are carriers of energy
b. When waves travel, the medium of propagation does not move with it.

Classification of waves

I. Mechanical Waves a wave that requires a medium in order to transport their

energy from location to another.
A. Seismic Waves use the ground as its medium and an elastic wave in the earth
produced by an earthquake through seismograph
B. Sound Waves travel through solid, liquid and gas
C. Surface Waves travel through water

II. Electromagnetic Waves waves that can travel through empty space.
Ex. Light, radio waves, microwaves and X-rays

3. Analysis/ Abstraction
What is the difference between Mechanical waves and Electromagnetic
waves?
Does the sound of the guitar have a relation to waves? How do you say so?

4. Generalization
What is a wave?
What is a wave pulse?
What are the classification of waves? Mechanical waves? Electromagnetic waves?
