1. We would like to thank School Council and the Fundraising Society for their support during our first year together at New Brighton School. We feel we have worked carefully together to create a true sense of school community and look forward to working together in 2017- 2018.
2. We welcomed 100 of 120 new Kindergarten students at our orientation. That is a really good turnout and our feedback for the event was positive. Our Grade 4 Leaders were excellent ambassadors for the school. Our Grade 4 students hosted their Celebration of Learning. Singing, Dancing, sharing their Legacy Projects and enjoying a few snacks and a photo-booth with family and friends was a great way to celebrate their time at New Brighton School
3. Plans are well under way for our first Sports Day. Grade 3 students have taken up the leadership for this event. They are incorporating their classroom learning into Sports Day with the theme of Every Drop Counts. Classroom Blogs have many of the details around how the theme is being incorporated into our last big school event of the year.
4. School Fees Decisions are still being made around some of the impact of the regulations supporting Bill 1. Currently, our best information, as it impacts New Brighton School, is: There can be no new fees and no fee increases Field Trips and In-School events for which there is a fee must be charged per event (not an Activity Fee) this will be a change for Kindergarten only at New Brighton Fee announcements will be shared with parents when decided
4. Back to School Information will be posted on the school website and shared on classroom blogs by June 23.
