Love is Like Hate

You say you love the rain, but you open your umbrella when it rains said by

William Shakespeare. This means that you cant believe what others have to say about

love. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, the author shows the

readers how love is fateful and how love cant be stopped. The story is about two lovers

named Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet and how they werent able to love each other

because of their families fights and hate toward each other. In text of Pyramus and

Thisbe is about a boy named Pyramus and a girl named Thisbe and it was about how

they loved each other but there parents wouldnt let them wed and a giant wall separated

them. Love is painful and causes lots of conflicts but can also be very passionate.

Love causes problems but problems also make things interesting or tense in

stories. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare shows how love can still

have some conflicts. By looking at this scene, My only love sprung my only hate

from...That I must love a loathed enemy(ACT I.SCENE V.LINE136-139). This example

explains that love can start problems because you might not even know who you are
falling in love until it's too late. This reveals that you should be careful in what you think

about others because you might end up liking them more than what you ever thought you

would get to like them. There are other stories that prove the same point about conflicts

like the myth of Pyramus and Thisbe the author states,O jealous wall, why do you

block our path? Oh wouldnt be better if you let our bodies join each other fully,(pg.1

paragraph 3,Ovid) The author was saying that they are being separated by a physical

barrier, but there parents are also separating them. This matter because if you separate

two lovers they will do anything they can to be together so its better to just let them love

each other instead of trying to separate them. Conflicts can also be very painful, mentally

or physically.

Love seems like it is always calm and happy but it can really painful in some

cases. In the story, Pyramus and Thisbe the author Ovid shows that love can be really

painful in physical and emotional ways. The text states, What struck you Pyramus? Why

have I lost my love? The text is showing that Pyramus killed himself because of his love

for Thisbe, because he thought she was killed by a lion because of his fault. This is

important to know because you need to know what happen before you do something you

cant change or a thing that you are going to regret. In relation to this, in Romeo and

Juliet, William Shakespear states, Shes dead, deceased, shes dead! Alack the day! (ACT

IV.SCENE V.23) In the text Romeo thinks that Juliet is dead when she is actually not
dead but he didnt know that so he ends up killing himself. This reveals that you need to

know all the facts before you do something. Although there is a lot of physical pain in

love there is also emotional pain but it can have passion, people think that passion is

good, it can be good be it can also be terrible.

Passion is a strong and barely controllable emotion that some people in love have.

In Romeo and Juliet and in Pyramus and Thisbe both stories show passion by

committing a very hard decision. For example in Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespear

states,

Romeo: I take thee at thy word. Call me but love, and Ill be nem baptized.

Henceforth I never will be Romeo(ACT II. SCENE ii. LINE 50) This example explains

that love makes people think very different. This reveals that love can make you say

things you that you never thought you would say. Furthermore, Romeo and Juliet

passionate love is some what live Pyramus and Thisbe because they are both really

committed to what they want to do.In the myth Pyramus and Thisbe the author Ovid

state, With these words she placed the daggers point beneath her breast, then leaned

against the blade still worm with her dear loves blood. To better understand this

position, readers learn here that love makes people commit decisions that aren't the best

for them. This reveals that committing decisions sometimes might be very difficult but
you always have to think what the best decision is. Passion love can be good to keep a

relationship together but it can also affect you in a bad way.

Pain and conflict are two very similar things when you talk about love and passion

can also relate to pain and conflict because those are some of the negative sides of love.

All in all we need to know that love3 wont always be great but two really strong lover

will never be apart till death as you saw in both pieces of literature, there love lead them

to there death. The universal theme for Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe is

tragedy. Pain, Conflict and Passion help make the stories more interesting and causes

tension.
