SB1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information to analyze the nature of the relationships between structures and functions in living cells. a. Construct an explanation of how cell structures and organelles (including nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, lysosome, Golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, vacuoles, ribosomes, and mitochondria) interact as a system to maintain homeostasis. Technology Standard Addressed: Creative Communicator Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals. Knowledge Constructor Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others .
Selected Technology Tool: Padlet

This assignment will be an introduction to a unit regarding cell structure and organelles. This will be a way to assess prior student knowledge, as well as do a basic introduction to cellular organelles. The assignment will be designed as homework and could possibly accompany a video discussing organelles. It will not take long on the students part, and will be easy for a teacher to look over to start to see areas where students are comfortable and content areas that will need more attention. This is dealing with only the lowest Blooms levels, but this is just a starting point for learning to create an idea for where the class can expand more later in the unit. Students will use Padlet to contribute their knowledge to a class board that will allow everyone to share their knowledge with their peers. Students will go home and will have access to the board (which will be set on private so there is no public access) and they will post anything they already know about each organelle. They may post a video, picture, or statement. This platform will allow students to post content that relates most to them while still allowing for collaboration. Students will not be graded, but will be expected to post about at least 4 different organelles. The Padlet will be used in class to review and find misconceptions or gaps in content to focus on in the unit.
