Text: Ernie Dances to the Didgeridoo Alison Lester Students who are in red group for reading and
Worksheet & Red group Worksheet spelling will receive a differentiated version of the
Indigenous seasons sheet worksheet which includes sentence starters and
Whiteboard and markers prompts.
Students in red group will work with Mrs Putland
(EA) give example to this group.
Use frog system for both reward and discipline.

- Who can tell me where the title is?
- Who is the author and illustrator?
- What can we predict that this story is going to be about based on the cover?
- Front, back, spine
Explain if anybody has sip n crunch containers or rubbish, put in bag.
Lesson Steps:
3. Stop and point to each season on the chart when the book discusses that
particular season.
4. Ask what have you noticed about each letter Ernie has written?
- Has anybody been to a place with these particular seasons? Indigenous Seasons Sheet
- What do you think Ernie might be doing?
- Each student will pick a random name out of the mystery bag, student
selected is who they will write their letter too.
- Explain: Going to make a whole class book with each students letters and
complete a graph showing how popular each season is.
2 mins 9. Transition back to desk: flutter like a butterfly back to your desk.
10. Red group with Mrs Putland: Rest of class working together. Worksheets
& Red Group worksheets.
12 mins 11. Select favourite season & draw picture first (10 mins).
