For my product testing, I developed a criterion list according to my design specification, I have
designed a survey based on what my product should have achieve, which will be an opinion
based criteria, I will also include a self checklist and interview 5 people that is my target
audience to check my criteria.. Yes will be written for the criteria completed and No will be for
what I had not achieved.

Student 1 -
I think that you used way too much pasta, 180g is enough for about 2 person, although a bigger
portion is nice, but I think that if you did a portion that is way too big it will just go to waste. I
think it taste pretty good though you can add more salt into it, I am willing to pay 30 dollars for
this meal.
Student 2 -
I like that you include a banana in the school lunch, I like how you combine both savoury and
sweet together, but i dont like how you present the dish, there is not enough green (or just
colour) in it, you can probably try and add broccoli or something like that into it. It taste nice
though, I think I will pay 30 dollars for this.
Student 3 -
I like the taste and amount of acidity in your dish, but my complaint is that you didnt include
much greens, you added tomatoes and onions, but you should add more leafy green based
vegetables instead of those other kinds, not only can it add more colour but it will also be more
healthy. I will pay $30 for this.
Student 4 -
I think the portion is okay, but I dont think there is enough meat. I think that you should add an
extra steak on top or something like that, since you made your meat bite size, it isnt really that
satisfying. I also think you can try and add soy sauce into your sauce so it will have more body?
I think the price you set is fine.
Student 5 -
I think overall it is fine? But I will prefer that you take away some of the pasta and add a salad
on the side, like one of your other design specification? Just make sure you dont add stuff that
people are allergic to into the salad, and also i think by lessening the portion it will also make it
more manageable. I would pay 30 for this meal.

From the above, 10 out of 11 of my design specification was met, which would make my product
unsuccessful, as I did not achieve my third desirable criteria, which is to use beef as my main
protein. I was not able to achieve this because I replaced beef with pork instead, which was
different as I stated in my design specification.
Although I did not achieve that criteria, I still think that my product is successful, since it still
serve its other purposes. The beef was to only serve as a protein, but pork is also another
protein, but it is just more desirable, I also realise that pork is better for the environment and it is
a better replacement for beeg. Because of this reason, my meal is still able to serve its purpose
as being nutritionally balances, and thus, it is still successful even if it is not able to fulfill all of
the specifications
Suggestions for Improving the school meal
- Add salad
- Change pasta into 60 grams instead
- Add more salt or soy sauce
Suggestion 1:
As a majority of the user and survey participant say that I did not include enough leafy greens
into my school meal, I think I should add a salad as another one of the side dish, this can also
boost the nutrition and make my meal more healthy. The salad I should add will be spinach and
broccoli, since they are superfoods and also they are more of a dark green colour, which will fit
the criteria of leafy green, this will add more ingredients to my original list.

Suggestion 2:
Some users and survey participants also think that there is too much carbohydrate in my meal,
and the proportion will be too much. One also said that I should increase the amount of meat I
put in my meal. I decided to alter the ingredients list to make the meal more manageable. I
decrease the amount of pasta used and also increase the amount of meat in my meal.

Suggestion 3:
Some of the user also suggest that I should make my main dish have more flavour, so I should
add more seasoning, one of the user also suggest that I add more soy sauce into my dish, I
think that this will make my dish even better, I also think that I should add more herbs into my
dish so it can be more appealing.

Impact of School Meal on the Target Audience
The ingredients I selected for my school meal: Banana, Onion, Tomato, was based a survey
sent to my target audience (the students), and I used those ingredients because they received
the most votes, therefore the school meal will satisfied most students taste preference. Because
it is more suited to their preference, they will be more likely to finish the meal, thus lessening
waste and also rise their energy levels, which will help them focus more and have more energy
to partake in daily activities.
Students in VSA also often use computer in their classes, which is why I include a mass of
tomatoes in my meal, which have a high percentage in Vitamin A. Research had proven that
vitamin A can help prevent vision damage, and also increase our vision, which is why I made
one of my main ingredient tomatoes, which can help protect the students vision.
Many of the students also have problems with focusing in class, this can also be due to the
reason that they did not have enough energy. Carbohydrate can help provide us with energy for
our brain, and sweet can also stimulate the brain and make them focus more in class. By doing
this, it can solve the problem of the students having low level of energy and it can make them
concentrate more both inside and outside of school.
