Commissioning
In order to prevent equipment damage and/or personal injuries always follow local
safety regulations and the required safety standards.
Load plant operating The plant operating program is downloaded using the CFC from XWP locally via
program the automation station's RJ45 interface or via the network (BACnet/IP or
BACnet/LonTalk).
Setting parameters and Use the PX Design tool in XWP for setting the control parameters and the
configurations configuration data. Data visible on the network may also be edited with an operator
unit PXM20 / PXM20-E (BACnet / LonTalk or BACnet / IP).
Part of the data can also be edited locally using the operator unit PXM10.
Network connection The network addresses are configured with XWP. For unique identification in the
network (BACnet/IP or BACnet/LonTalk), press the Service button with a long,
pointed object or send a wink command to the appropriate automation station
(service LED blinks).
Position of RUN
Reset SRV
9222z04
Power supply The power supply of the automation station must be switched on and off
simultaneously with the power supply of the TX-I/O modules.
Otherwise, unwanted alarms will be generated.
7 / 14
The Real-Time Clock is supported by a lithium battery with a life span of at least
10 years.
The Low BAT LED lights up when one of the batteries charges is low and the
automation station automatically sends a system event.
It can also be set as an alarm to selected recipients.
Replacing the battery To change the battery remove the front cover. The battery can be removed
indefinitely as long as the unit has power.
STOP Caution A wrist-strap and grounding cable must be used to avoid hardware damage
through electrostatic discharge (ESD).
Firmware upgrades Firmware and operating system stored in non-volatile Flash ROM. Flash ROM
memory can be easily updated on the plant, when a new firmware version is
available.

Electrical characteristics
TXS1.EF10 The supply module is supplied with AC 24 V.
supply module) The tolerance range is 10 ... +20%.
The device generates a supply voltage of DC 24 V ("Module supply 24V=")
for the modules and field devices, designed for a current rating of 1.2 A.
The power supply module is short-circuit proof.
Parallel operation is permissible as follows:
A maximum of 4 power supply modules can be operated in parallel
However, each I/O bar can accommodate a maximum of 2 power supply
modules (see [3])
To supply the field devices, the AC 24 V supply voltage is connected via a T 10A
fuse to the island bus ("Field supply 24V~", maximum admissible current 6 A).
Note: for AC 24 V, the bus is interrupted to the left, the supply module can only
supply the modules to the right with 24V~V.
TXS1.EF10 To supply the field devices, an AC / DC 12 24 V supply voltage is connected
bus connection module) via a T 10A fuse to the island bus ("Field supply V ", maximum admissible current
6 A).
Note: for V , the bus is interrupted to the left, the bus connection module can only
supply the modules to the right with V .
Interfaces Plug-in screw terminals for supply voltage (24V~, V , ) and island bus (CS, CD)
Island bus The I/O modules are mounted to the right of the supply module / bus connection
module on the standard mounting rail. The electrical connection is established via
the four island bus contacts on the side of the modules. The bus is created
automatically when the TX-I/O devices are connected one next to the other on
the rail.
For expansion purposes, the CS and CD signals of the island bus are also routed
via terminals.
System ground The I/O modules and all connected field devices are connected to the same
system ground ().
The system ground of the I/O island () and of the automation station (G0) are
electrically connected (in the P-Bus interface module)
Fuse In the event of overload or short circuit, the fuse (T 10A) cuts off the AC 24 V / V
field supply voltage (but not the supply module's supply voltage)
The fuse can be replaced without removing the device.
Protection against All terminals are protected against shortcut and incorrect wiring with AC/DC 24 V
incorrect wiring This is the case even for incorrect AC phase sequence
Bus connector on side: no protection
Voltage > AC/DC 24 V: no protection

All measuring / system neutral terminals are interconnected, not in the terminal base
but in the plug-in I/O module. When this unit is pulled outward (into the "parking"
position) there is no connection.
The system neutral of a digital input can be connected to any system neutral
terminal
It is also permissible to combine the system neutral conductors of several digital
inputs in order to save wire.
However, the inputs concerned must be on the same module.
With analog inputs and outputs, the measuring / system neutral must always be
connected to the terminal associated with that I/O point.
2)
All AC/DC 24V supply terminals are interconnected
(in the I/O module, not in the terminal base).
They are protected in the power supply module / bus connection module.

Use The LON bus terminators are used for impedance-related termination of LON networks.
Either 52.3 or 105 terminators are required, depending on the network topology.
Ordering When ordering, please state the quantity, product name and type code.
Equipment The bus terminators are used with LON devices which are fitted with FTT-10 or LPT-10
combinations transceivers and do not have an internal bus terminator (typically DESIGO RXC).
Mechanical design The PCB with the RC circuit is encapsulated in a plastic snap-lock housing.
Flat connectors permit the direct connection of the bus terminator to the bus terminals of
the LON device.
Engineering notes The use of the bus terminators varies according to the bus topology (see also DESIGO
RXC Installation guide, document CA110334).
Installation notes The bus terminators are connected in parallel with the bus cable to the terminals of the
LON bus connector. The two connections are interchangeable.

Router functions
Three-way routing The PXG3... BACnet router transmits BACnet protocol between a BACnet/IP
network, a BACnet/LonTalk network (PXG3.L only), and a BACnet MS/TP channel.
BACnet objects are simultaneously transmitted among any and all networks.
Web server The BACnet Router possesses a Device Object and can be operated by a BACnet
Client. Present operating state, date and time as well as statistics on sent
packages can be viewed via web server.
MS/TP Slave Proxy The BACnet router can serve as a Slave Proxy for all slaves that are connected to
the MS/TP network. I.e. it sends a I-Am message to all MS/TP slaves, answering a
Who-Is message.
SNMP v2 Simple Network Management protocol MIB-2, for monitoring and diagnosing the
network interface of the BACnet router.
BACnet NAT Supports setup of a BACnet network over a NAT device. Additionnally, remote
access from a public network to BACnet devices in a private network is possible.
Important: the public IP address must be static.
BACnet/IP to BACnet/IP When routing between BACnet/IP and BACnet/IP, the address of the BACnet
router must bet he same in both BACnet networks. The difference of the BACnet
network is done by using different BACnet UDP ports.

Functions
These freely programmable automation stations provide the infrastructure for the
provision and processing of system-specific and application-specific functions.
Apart from the freely programmable control functions these units comprise integrated
convenient management functions such as:
Alarm management with alarm routing throughout the whole network. Three level
alarm management (simple, basic and enhanced) with safety control transmission
and automatic transmission monitoring
Time schedulers
Trend functions
Access protection for the whole network with individually defined user profiles and
categories
I/O points Each automation station has dedicated digital inputs and outputs along with a number
of universal I/O points that are individually configurable as
Digital input:
Pulse counter (25Hz)
Analog input: sensor, DC 0..10V
Analog output: DC 0..10V
In addition a limited number of the universal I/O can be configured as digital outputs
for switching DC 24 V external relays.
Programming language The automation stations are freely programmable with the D-MAP programming
language (follows closely CEN Standard 1131). All function blocks available in libraries
are graphically linked with the plant operating programs.
Communication Communication is via Ethernet with the international standard BACnet protocol.
Both peer-to-peer communications with other automation stations and connections to
the PXM20 operator units are supported.
Operation There are various options for operation of the PXC.D automation stations:
QAX... room unit connected to the PPS2 interface. A maximum of five room units
QAX (not QAX5) can be connected. Details on the PPS2 communication are
described in the Desigo Technical principles manual (chapter "I/O blocks", section
"PPS2 addressing").

Battery life The database information stored in the SDRAM memory is battery-backed (Alkaline
AA Type). This eliminates the need for time-consuming program and database re-entry
in the event of an extended power failure (up to 1 month).
After the "Battery low" event there are several days of remaining life span under load.
Alkaline batteries have a typical life span of 4 years without load.
The real time clock is backed by a lithium battery which has a life span of 10 years.
When one of the batteries needs to be replaced, the automation station illuminates a
battery low status LED and automatically sends a system event.
The automation station can also send an alarm message to selected terminals.
Battery change To change the batteries, remove the front cover. As long as there is an external power
supply, the battery may be removed for unlimited time.
STOP Caution! To prevent hardware damage by electrostatic discharge (ESD), a wrist strap with
earth cable must be used during the battery change.
Firmware upgrades The firmware, including the operating system, is stored in non-volatile flash ROM
memory. Flash ROM is easily upgradeable at the job site. This provides for ease of
upgrade, as new firmware updates are made available.

Application
The PXM20 operator unit ensures the convenient display and operation of DESIGO PX
automation stations via BACnet network communication. The graphics-based display
with clear text and direct access via the keyboard ensure a most user-friendly
operation.
Functions
All values visible in the system can be displayed in accordance with the defined
operator profile. Typical displays:
Display of current values
Setpoint and parameter settings
Maintenance and error messages
Alarm lists and single alarm messages with acknowledgement option and/or reset
Time schedulers (7-day schedules and exception programs)
Plant switching
Login and password inputs
An integrated collective alarm message system with acoustic and visual indication is
provided.
Operating concept As the PXM20 operator unit is designed for end-user operation the operating concept
concentrates on the simplest and clearest possible display following intuitive operating
principles rather then displaying as many values as possible.
Any text is displayed as clear text in the chosen language.
To ensure a clear orientation for any operator the two top display lines (header lines)
always show which building services system or which function is currently in
operation.
The basic concept of the operation ensures that it is always possible to select direct,
with the click of a button on the keyboard, the plant information shown on the
relevant line (direct access keys).
Any settings or modifications (for example in graphics) can be followed direct on the
display (e.g. graphics display for scheduler).
The basic concept also ensures that all information and help functions can be called
up any time (info key).
User's guide The PXM20 functionality is described in detail in the following document: .

Generic operation and Due to the application program each menu tree is different. Navigation through the
display menu tree is based on the so-called ClickDown procedure using the navigation keys.
Alarms and events If the PXM20 receives an alarm or an event appears on the display a pop-op window
appears with the relevant information.
Visual and acoustic When an alarm is present the alarm LED flashes and changes to steady light when all
alarm alarms have been acknowledged. The acoustic alarm is provided as an option and can
be activated optionally when an alarm is triggered.
AlarmViewer Alarms are written into the AlarmViewer with a symbol, a description and a time/date
stamp in chronological order. An acknowledgement mask to acknowledge alarms can
be called up in the AlarmViewer. After acknowledgement the alarm entry disappears
from the AlarmViewer; however, it will continue to be saved in the history list. Further
details can be viewed in the alarm history (e.g. out of service, overridden, deadband,
present value, etc.)
The PXM20 history can contain max. 60 entries; the older ones are deleted.
Scheduler The Scheduler allows the user a time-dependent switch on/off and the programming of
time-dependent setpoint adjustments.
The Scheduler consists of a 7-day schedule and an exception program.
3/8
Online trend
The PXM20 operator unit provides the user with five channels for trend logging, enabling 5
data points to be logged.
There are three separate ways of viewing the trend data:
1 Graphical view: Int his view all the values of a trend datapoint stored in PXM20 will be
displayed graphically
2 Online graphical view : In the online view the values will be displayed in a grsphical and
dynamic manner, i.e. in real time.
3 List: In place of a graphic view, the values can be displayed in list form
Info concept Press info key to switch to info mode. In this info mode two different kind of information
can be called up:
Pressing the info key a second time displays general information for the currently
displayed object (e.g. complete path, clear text of object).
Pressing a direct access key in info mode displays information for the object or value
on the selected line.
Exit the info mode by pressing any key.
Auto logout If no operator activities are carried out within a set period the device switches off
and sleep mode automatically and the display is turned off.
Pressing any key activates the device automatically again and the background lighting
of the display is switched on.
Language versions When the operator unit is delivered the language is set to English. The language setting
can be changed internally to one of the following languages: Dutch, French, German,
Italian and Swedish.
4/8
Compatibility
Design
The PXM20 operator unit is contained in a robust plastic housing, ideally suited for its
many different mounting methods.
All indicators and controls are mounted on the front cover of the unit (see page 2).
The connections for the automation stations are incorporated on the back of the unit
(see page 7).
Disposal
The printed circuit board and the housing must be disposed of separately in accordance
with local regulations.
Mounting instructions
The PXM20 is suitable for control panel front mounting or vertical panels (e.g. remote
operating panels or similar units). The unit is also suitable for DIN rail snap-mounting.
In addition, the PXM20 can be mounted direct on any modular automation station.
Commissioning
Wiring test When using networkable PXM20 units it is possible to carry out a wiring test of
connected field devices even without a loaded application program. The field devices
are shown with the current value and unit.
Switchless The binary inputs and outputs for the commissioning phase before the programming
commissioning can also be set with plant switches. They remain under control until the voltage at the
devices is switched off again.

1 differential pressure sensor QBE61.3-DP2.
The sensor is supplied without the water trap pipe.
Equipment combinations
The differential pressure sensor can be used with all devices or systems capable of
handling the sensors output signal of DC 0...10 V.
Mode of operation
The differential pressure sensor uses a ceramics measurement system. The pressure
is measured by making direct contact with the medium. The pressure signal is
electronically converted to a linear DC 0...10 V signal (3-wire connection) and made
available at output U.
The output signal is proportional to the measurement range.
Mechanical design
Engineering notes
The QBE61.3-DP... and all interconnected devices must be wired to the same G0 / G
(measuring neutral). Also refer to the Data Sheets of the devices to which the sensor is
connected.
The differential pressure at the sensor may never exceed the permissible overload on
one side (refer to Type summary).
High static pressure can destroy the sensor if it acts on only one side of the
measurement system. This can be prevented by using the following layout:

Use The QBM81-... differential pressure detectors are used to monitor differential pressure,
under- and overpressure in ventilation and air conditioning plants. By measuring
differential pressure, they monitor the state of air filters, prevailing air flows, damaged
fanbelts and overpressure in clean rooms, kitchens etc.
Functions The differential pressure between the two pressure connections deflects a spring-loaded
diaphragm. This special diaphragm ensures long-term stability of switching points.
Each type is engraved with individual scales for highly accurate adjustment. The options
for adjustment are illustrated in the 3 diagrams on the next page.

Mounting notes Mounting instructions are enclosed with the pressure detector (No. 604.15011).
Important note on orientation : Mounting positions other than vertical affect the cut-in
pressure. Refer to the 'Commissioning notes' below.
The pressure detector is suitable for mounting on air ducts or walls. The recommended
orientation is vertical, but in principle any orientation is acceptable. The pressure
The pressure detector should be mounted so that it is above the pressure connection
points. To prevent the accumulation of condensation, the tubing must be routed so that
there is a gradual incline from the pressure connection points to the pressure detector
(no looping).
Commissioning The required setpoint can be selected on the setpoint knob [5] located under the cover
notes (see figures under 'Dimensions').

Equipment combinations
All systems and devices capable of acquiring and handling the sensors DC 0...10 V ,
4...20 mA, LG-Ni 100 or T1 output signal.
When using the passive sensors for averaging, we recommend to use the SEZ220
signal converter (refer to Data Sheet N5146).
Function
Relative humidity The sensor acquires the r. h. in the air duct via its capacitive humidity sensing element
whose electrical capacitance changes as a function of the r. h..
The electronic measuring circuit converts the sensors signal to a continuous
DC 0...10 V or 420 mA signal, which corresponds to 0...100 % r. h..
Temperature The sensor acquires the temperature in the air duct via its sensing element whose elec-
trical resistance changes as a function of the temperature.
Depending on the type of sensor, this change in resistance is converted either to an .
active DC 010 V or 420 mA output signal ( 0 50 C/35+35 C/40...+70 C) .
or is provided as a simulated passive output signal ( 3550 C). .
Simulated passive The measuring current from systems / devices fr acquiring the electrical resistance of
output signal the passive sensor differs greatly and impacts self-heating of the temperature sensing
element at the end of the measuring probe. To compensate the impact, the passive
output signal is simulated with an electronic circuit.

Engineering notes
To power the sensor, a transformer for safety extra low-voltage (SELV) with separate
windings for 100 % duty is required. When sizing and protecting the transformer, local
safety regulations must be compleied with.
When sizing the transformer, the power consumption of the duct sensor must be taken
into consideration.
For correct wiring, refer to the Data Sheets of the devices with which the sensor is
used.
The permissible cable lengths must be observed.
Cable routing and When laying the cables, it must be observed that the longer the cables run side by side
cable selection and the smaller the distance between them, the greater electrical interference. Shielded
cables must be used in environments with EMC problems.
Twisted pair cables are required for the secondary supply lines and the signal lines.
Note to QFM2171 Terminals G1(+) and I1 () for the humidity output must always be connected to power, .
even if only the temperature output G2 (+) and I2 () is used! .
.
Mounting notes
To ensure degree of protection IP 54, the sensor must be fitted with the cable entry
pointing downward!
The sensor should be mounted in locations where it can be easily accessed for service.
Note! If used in connection with steam humidifiers, the distance to the humidifier must be a
minimum of 3 m. If permitted by the installation, the distance should be as great as
possible, but no more than 10 m
The sensing elements in the immersion rod are susceptible to impact and shock. Any
impact or shock should therefore be avoided
If the application involves dew point shifting, the sensor must be mounted in the extract
air duct.
Mounting Instructions are printed on the package.
4/8
Check wiring before switching on power. The temperature measuring range must be
selected on the sensor, if required.
Wiring and the output signals can be checked by making use of the test function (refer
to "Mechanical design").

Opening the valve The hydraulic pump (6) forces oil from the suction chamber (3) to the pressure chamber
(8) and thereby moving the pressure cylinder (2) downwards. The valve stem (11)
retracts and the valve opens. Simultaneously the return spring (4) is compressed.
3/18
151 151
Closing the valve Activating the solenoid valve (5) allows the oil in the pressure chamber to flow back into
the suction chamber. The compressed return spring moves the pressure cylinder
upwards. The valve stem extends and the valve closes
Manual operation mode Turning the manual adjuster (1) clockwise moves the pressure cylinder downwards and
opens the valve. Simultaneously the return spring is compressed.
In the manual operation mode the control signals Y and Z can further open the valve
but cannot move to the 0% stroke position of the valve. To retain the manually set
position, switch off the power supply or disconnect the control signals Y and Z. The red
indicator marked MAN is visible.
Note: Controller in When setting the controller for a longer time period to manual operation, we
manual operation recommend adjusting the actuator with the manual adjuster to the desired position. This
guarantees that the actuator remains in this position for that time period. Attention: Do
not forget to switch back to automatic operation after the controller is set back to
automatic control.
Automatic mode Turn the manual adjuster counterclockwise to the end stop. The pressure cylinder
moves upward to the 0% stroke position of the valve. The red indicator marked
MAN is no longer visible.
Minimal volumetric flow The actuator can manually be adjusted to a stroke position > 0 % allowing its use in
applications requiring constantly a minimal volumetric flow.
Spring-return facility The SKD32.51, SKD32.21, SKD82.51U.. and SKD62.. actuators, which feature a
spring-return function, incorporate an additional solenoid valve which opens if the
control signal or power fails. The return spring causes the actuator to move to the
0 % stroke position and closes the valve.
TV tested as per DIN TV tested control devices per DIN EN 14597 can therefore be used as control devices
EN 14597 with safety shut-off function for protection against excessive temperature and pressure.

Engineering notes
Caution Safety regulations and restrictions designed to ensure the safety of people and
property must be observed at all times!
4567Z11
Caution For media below 0 C the ASZ6.5 stem heater is
required to keep the valve from freezing. For safety
reasons the stem heater is designed for an operating
voltage of AC 24 V / 30 W.
For this case, do not insulate the actuator bracket and
the valve stem, as air circulation must be ensured. Do
not touch the hot parts without prior protective
measures to avoid burns.
Non-observance of the above may result in accidents
and fires!
Recommendation: Above 140 C insulating the
valves is strictly recommended.
If an auxiliary switch is required, its switching point should be indicated on the plant
schematic.

Notes
Engineering We recommend installation in the return pipe, as the temperatures in this pipe are lower
for applications in heating systems, which in turn, extends the stem sealing gland's life.
Always use a strainer upstream of the valve to increase the valve's functional safety.
For media below 0 C, use the electric stem heating element to prevent the valve stem
from freezing in the sealing gland. For safety reasons, the stem heating element has
been designed for AC 24 V / 30 W operating voltage.
Mounting Both valve and actuator can easily be assembled at the mounting location. Neither
special tools nor adjustments are required.
Orientation 90 90

Commissioning Commission the valve only if the actuator has been mounted correctly.
6/10
Before putting the valve into operation again, make certain the actuator is correctly
fitted.
Stem sealing gland The glands can be exchanged without removing the valve, provided the pipes are
depressurized and cooled off and the stem surface is unharmed.
If the stem is damaged in the gland range, replace the entire stem-plug-unit.
Contact your local office or branch.
Disposal Before disposal the valve must be dismantled and separated into its various constituent
materials.
Legislation may demand special handling of certain components, or it may be sensible
from an ecological point of view.
Current local legislation must be observed.
