This Knowledge Base Article, NK-1300-0245 provides configuration instructions when installing
the Wyse P25 Remote KVM Extender to a Dell R5500 Rack Mount Workstation. Use of Wyse
P25 is supported for DeltaV v9.3 and later.
Refer to the following KBA for the installation instructions for the Dell R5500:

NK-1200-0146: Installation Instructions for the Dell Rackmount Workstation R5500

For single or dual monitor workstation setup (SE2525 or VE2555), the Dell R5500 rack mount
workstation includes the WYSE P25 and does not have to be ordered separately.
For quad monitor workstation setup (SE2513), External KVM Extenders must be purchased
separately using the KVM solutions provided in the Alliance program. The Dell R5500XL machine
used for this setup does not support an FX100 or Wyse P25 Zero Client and is not installed with
the Wyse/Dell KVM interface card.
The Wyse Remote KVM Extender consists of two pieces: the Wyse remote and the Host card
which resides in a slot in the computer. The two are connected via an Ethernet connection. The
video output from the video card is connected to the Host card using the cables provided.

Note By default, the Wyse and the Host card have DHCP enabled. If DHCP fails,
the IP Addresses default to 192.168.1.100 after two minutes for the host card and
192.168.1.50 for the Wyse. When DHCP is enabled, the two-minute delay will
prevent access to BIOS or Boot menus on the workstation.
Use of DHCP is not recommended. Instead, a separate, isolated network must be
created for the KVM network. This provides improved security and removes the
video bandwidth from any other network.
When multiple Wyse devices and workstations will be connected to the same KVM
network, this configuration must be done off the KVM network and the static IP
Addresses assigned before connecting the Wyse and Host Card to a Live KVM
network.

Known Issues:

Description When using R5500/Windows 7 Image Restore disks, the automation

sequence seems to have paused. The Internet Explorer remains open
when it should have been closed automatically.
Background The automation sequence in the R5500/Windows 7 Image Restore disk will
configure Windows with the DeltaV-recommended settings. Due to a timing
issue, the Internet Explorer window which says Stand by will not close
automatically.
Prevention Before clicking OK to begin the automation sequence, minimize the
Internet Explorer Stand by window.
Recovery Hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to reload the R5500/Windows 7 Image Restore then
minimize the IE window before clicking OK.

Description When using the R5500 with the Wyse P25 remote access portal, graphic
artifacts (video remnants, strange lines of text, etc.) may briefly flash on the
screen during POST and prior to a Windows OS startup.
Background On OS startup, Windows uses a scaled down generic VGA driver until it
enumerates any video devices detected. Once the OS has determined
what the PnPID is for a device, it then finds if there is an available vendor
specific driver for that device, unloads its native or inbox driver then loads
the vendor specific device driver for the device. For video, during this
transition from OS native driver to actual AMD device driver, any number of

artifacts can be on the screen as the video cards output lines can be in an
indeterminate state until the loading driver fully takes over control of the
video I/O.
Recovery None required. What is on the screen during this reset and driver load is
irrelevant and benign.
This issue has absolutely no impact on the system after that event because
it is an event that happened in the past before the system is even at the
OS desktop and can run any Windows based software. Any trash that was
left in video memory or the video frame buffer gets cleared out during the
reset and is no longer a factor in the video cards output.
