What’s On proudly introduce our biggest issue of the year, a
sensational summer sizzler that beggars belief and promises to
get you all in the holiday mood. Welcome to August folks and our
annual issue that brings you not just the best of Bristol but the
best of Weston - a seasonal double-whammy from the What’s
On team and something to firmly get your teeth into.
This month we can reveal the 2010 face of What’s On Bristol, a
search that spanned 6 months with over 5,000 entrants. Quite
how we managed to pick 12 finalists is beyond belief but after
a long and painstaking search make sure to read all about the
competition and what will happen next.
August sees three major events starting with the Bristol
Harbourside Festival kicking off the month in spectacular style.
Whether you’re a visitor to Bristol or fortunate to live here, it’s
a great occasion to celebrate and if you’re out and about and
soaking up the infectious atmosphere be assured that we’ll be
there as well to record the occasion and tell you all about it in
next months issue.
The other two highlights of the month have to be the opening
of the Grand Pier at Weston and the celebrated international
Balloon Fiesta. Both events are keenly anticipated and are sure
to generate crowds and well deserved attention, so if there was

Bristol Beefeater
Having recently undergone a glamorous makeover, Bristol Fashion Beefeater Restaurant
– newly merged with Premier Inn’s threw open its doors on Thursday July 15th to host a
VIP night to celebrate their new look. The team were thrilled to attend and while guests
were invited to sample from the newly launched menu, other’s were lucky enough to be
photographed with a certain Mr Lenny Henry. A sparkling evening was had by all those
who attended and a big ‘hat’s off’ to Simon and Richard and all the team who provided first
class hospitality and entertainment.

Fresh Seafood Pizza Recipe

iNGrEDiENTS:
Base - 250g pizza flour 1 Clove of Garlic
150ml warm water 1 Shallot
13g yeast Pinch of Salt & Pepper
½ tbsp sugar Topping - Fresh, Cornish Mussels
10ml Olive Oil Fresh Tiger Prawns
Pinch of Salt 100g Grated Mozzarella
Sauce - 3 Large Tomatoes Pinch of Salt & Pepper
Handful of Fresh Basil Pinch of Oregano
To Prepare:
Pizza Dough - Add yeast, Sugar, Olive Oil & Salt to the Warm Water & leave for 10 minutes. Add Warm Water
mix to flour and work into smooth dough, and then leave for 10 minutes. Work again into a smooth dough and
leave for a further 10 minutes. Weigh out into 5oz and roll to shape.
Sauce - Roughly cut the Tomatoes, Shallots & Garlic, place in a baking tray with the salt and pepper and roast
for 30 minutes at 210˚c*. Then place in a mixing bowl and blend with the basil, adding salt and pepper to taste.
Topping - De-shell the prawns, remove the heads and back vein and clean the mussels thoroughly.
To make the pizza:
Roll out the dough until it is roughly 12” in diameter and then spread 3-4 tbsp of the sauce over the base,
leaving a 1” clean crust on the outside. Scatter the Mozzarella and then place the Mussels and Prawns evenly
across the sauce. Add Salt, Pepper and Oregano to taste before baking in the oven at 250˚c for 10 – 12
minutes or until crust is golden brown. Taste the real thing at:

Having recently undergone a glamorous makeover, Bristol Fashion Beefeater Restaurant
– newly merged with Premier Inn’s threw open its doors on Thursday July 15th to host a
VIP night to celebrate their new look. The team were thrilled to attend and while guests
were invited to sample from the newly launched menu, other’s were lucky enough to be
photographed with a certain Mr Lenny Henry. A sparkling evening was had by all those
