Exercise respect, responsibility, and self-control.
Be prepared every day and arrive on time.
Have an open mind and a willingness to learn.
Maintain a positive attitude and do your best.
Follow all teacher and school rulesno gum chewing or food in class.
Remember: Safety is always first!

Ms. Hewitts Classroom Procedures:

What should I do in the beginning of class?

1. Come into the classroom quietly and calmly. Use the Entrance door to ENTER the
classroom, and the EXIT door to exit the classroom
2. Drop your gum and waste in the trash basket on the way in
3. Take everything you need out of your backpack (Including HW).
4. Come in and sit in your assigned seat and begin to copy the Agenda and begin working
on the Warm-Up.
5. If you need to sharpen a pencil, do it before the tardy bell rings.
6. Be seated in your assigned seat before the tardy bell rings.

What should I do during class?

1. Remain seated unless otherwise directed.

2. Raise your hand and wait to be called upon during group discussions.
3. Use the appropriate volume and tone of voice for indoors.
4. Be silent when someone is speaking to the whole class, when the phone rings and during
speaker announcements.
5. Display a positive attitude.
6. Complete all assignments.
7. Hold on to your trash until the end of the period.
8. Use academic language only no profanity.
9. If you need to go to the restroom, raise your hand and ask for permission.

What should I do at the end of class?

1. Clean your work area before you leave.

2. Return all borrowed materials.
3. Make sure you know what your homework assignment is.
4. Wait for Ms. Hewitt to dismiss you.

If you enter late, please minimize the disruption that you have already caused by signing the
tardy log at the door and taking your seat quickly and silently.
Behavior:

Behavioral expectations have been made very clear to all students. All rules and procedures
must be observed. In the event that a classroom rule or procedure is violated, the following
sequence of consequences will occur:

1. Documented/Verbal Warning
A verbal warning from Ms. Hewitt will be issued to the student.
2. Student/Teacher Conference
We will meet briefly to discuss misbehavior and ways to address it before it
becomes more serious
3. Phone Call/Behavior Notice Sent Home
This note will specify the students misbehavior and will require a parent
signature.
4. Detention
Depending on the situation/infraction 15, 30, or 60 minutes will be assigned. They
will be served every day except, Tuesday.
5. Referral to Dean
The Dean of Students will decide on the appropriate consequences once a referral
has been made.

Attendance:

You cannot learn if you are not in class!

I take attendance very seriously. Each minute you spend outside of a classroom when you are
supposed to be in one is a minute of education that you are robbing yourself of. I will keep you,
your parent or guardian, and the schools attendance office informed about your attendance
status. I will work with you and your family to ensure that your attendance at school is your
highest priority!

If youve been absent, see Ms. Hewitt to catch up. It is your responsibility to make sure
that you have received all missing assignments and understand how to complete the class
work that youve missed.

I am very happy to help you catch up, but I wont be able to take up everyones class time
to help you catch up during class. So, make arrangements to see Ms. Hewitt:

During Breakfast Time in the Morning

During Lunch
After School

I look forward to this year and have great expectations for the students in my class. Working
together, we can achieve success and have fun at the same time. Please contact me through e-
