Summary:

Time management is an important skill to express when in a leadership position.

In the work field, the United States government now has parameters on labor standards

that demonstrate changes on overtime-paid employees. The goal of this specific change is

to adjust the way employees work regarding budgets for the business. Time management

is successful through planning processes. According to Maggie Farrell, the best way to

plan to manage time is to first decide what is most important. This process is successful

because there is now one goal every employee strives to complete. This community goal

eliminates useless duties and wasted time.

This process allows employees to determine their priorities and reflect on how

their actions directly affect the company. Communication is another skill for every leader

to establish when planning to manage time. If a leader has poor communication skills, it

could potentially create confusion and frustration. To be a successful leader, you also

have to respectfully display the skills you are requesting your employees to show.

Respect in the work field is a two way street. You must respect your employees for your

employees reciprocate it. Time management is a challenging skill and leaders must

develop specific skills for the results to be effective.

[Chapter 2, Emotional Maturation of the College Student]

Summary:

Emotional maturation differs from student to student among college campuses.

According to Farnsworth, it highly depends on the students independence. The

majorities of college students strive for success and hope for high expectations. When an

individual has experienced certain situation such as a parents divorce or a sudden loss, it

becomes a struggle for the student to feel successful. As a result, this said student might

fail a course in college because of the pressures or lack of affection in the students home.

This becomes very difficult to understand for other students who havent had the same

experiences and makes the struggling student feel alone.

One factor that affects mental health is the attitudes of the people individuals

surround themselves with. It is healthier to have encouraging people around rather than

negative mindsets. Physical development is much more consistent compared to emotional

and social development. Its important for each person to learn they are affected by both

small and large situations. Students react in different ways determined by how they were

raised as children. Attention and encouragement from all community leaders on campus

can potentially increase the amount of successful independent students.
