Requirements
In order for your child to be a successful reader and writer they will need to have their basic
knowledge of letters, letter sounds, and high frequency words. These basic building blocks will
help your child reach their goals for first grade.

Delivery
I will teach your child in a variety of ways. It is my job to know how your child learns best!
Once I have acquired that information I will integrate that into my teaching. 1.) We will have
class discussions where I will talk about the different modules. In that time I will show many
examples to the students and have the students complete examples. 2.) Students will practice
what they have learned independently. 3.) Students will get extra practice and support working in
small groups at my table. 4.) Students will have the opportunity to work together, completing
games that encourage learning and engagement. 5.) Students will have the opportunity to
practice what they have learned through a variety of computer programs.

Workload
Students will work daily with their ELA skills. In addition, homework will be given Monday-
Thursday that will help your child practice their new skills.

Again, I am looking forward to this year! Lets begin our journey!

2.
Our goal is to learn! As a result, it is important that your child knows that they are responsible
for their learning! We have a behavior chart that has each childs name on it. The behavior chart
starts at green, then yellow, blue, and red. Each day students will start a new day and their name
starts at green. If they are not making good choices they will get warnings. Their name will
move down the behavior chart. (They do have the opportunity to turn their behavior around. If
they begin to make better choices their name will move back up. )

1st warning (yellow) - center time taken away

2nd warning (blue) note/phone call home

3rd warning (red)-phone call home (possible referral)
