Statement of Philosophy

A certified Strength and Conditioning coach is an athletic professional who specializes in

getting athletes to perform at a peak level. Through specific exercises that range in aerobic

conditioning, muscular endurance, muscular strength and sport specific exercises and SC coach

helps to prepare athletes for the next level of competition. Through this avenue of coaching my

goal is to reach young athletes striving to improve their game for college competition. Through

this effort I want to promote the idea of lifelong fitness a mindset that will incorporate that

fitness is not a one stop shop but a journey throughout life. God has given all of us a special gift

and a life that we are to live for him. As I continue out in life I will remain to make it my goal to

assist others in living their best life possible. 1 Corinthians says that Our bodies are a temple for

the Holy Spirit and while those temples may look different we must do everything in our power

to utilize our temples to the fullest.

Leading Organizations

As a physical educator my job is to instruct physical activity while also inspire healthy

choices. Coaching is a way to inspire those things but also to instruct the proper way to go about

it to prevent injuries. Leadership is not only physical but relational. As the head of this

endeavour being a manager leads to important principles of leadership. Judgment plays a key

role in which steps to take for this business. Without the proper judgment and guidance from

others the wheels would be moving in the same spot. Leadership is the act of inspiring others to

rise above their station and getting things done. My leadership style is the Path-goal theory best

describes my style of leadership. It creates a sort of reward based systems but also leads by

example.

Ethics & Biblical Principals

Romans 8:8 says, And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of

those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. God has called each of

us to be a light and to use our gifts to his glory. During my time in the military I have learned

that one gift I have is connecting to people. I have used my love of athletics and teaching to

impart what God has blessed me with.

Planning

During my time in the Marine Corps. I learned that a failure to plan was the same as planning to

fail. When starting a business that is a grind like Strength and conditioning it all begins with

planning. Every workout, conditioning circuit, nutrition and athlete participation comes down to

the ability to plan it and make it all make sense. Planning begins by creating goals and steps to

accomplish these goals. The best way to accomplish these is with smaller goals and creating an

objective for these goals. When it comes to these objectives there are standards issued by

professional organizations that can be a guide. Here are a few examples:

Standard 1 - The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of

motor skills and movement patterns.

The Student will be able to proficiently perform certain athletic movements

Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles,

strategies and tactics related to movement and performance.

The Student will be able to apply sport specific concepts like offense, defense

and strategies

Standard 3 - The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and skills to

achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness.

The Student will know the standards on how the be healthy and how to

implement them

Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social

behavior that respects self and others.

The Student will be able to exhibit personal space and respect for their

opponent

Another thing to keep in mind is mitigating any potential risk that can happen. Weather

physical or financial these risk must looked at through every lenses to make an effective and

informed decision. In this business model I used the idea of expanding the business to include

high school age athletes. Here is my Strength and weakness analysis:

Organization

Through this business model there are two main goals. Promote lifelong fitness and Improve

the ability of the athletes in the community. By emphasizing an overall view of holistic health

we can being to teach the athletes about proper nutrition, stretching, and correct exercise. IN

this approach we can encourage and push the community athletes in the area to be at their

best helping to improve the chances of athletic scholarships as well as putting back into the

community environment.

Controlling

Liability is an issue that will arise in this profession due to its athletic nature. Other than waiver

forms we can combat this by correctly training our staff to instruct movements that will not

lead to injury. As well as keeping our practices up to date we ensure that our equipment is of

the highest standards to take out the factor of equipment malfunction out of the equation.
