User Manual 1 ECC500 Overview

1 ECC500 Overview

1.1 Positioning
The ECC500 is a cross-platform monitoring product, in which a main control module works
with several expansion boards to schedule multiple energy inputs and monitor loads, the
power monitoring unit (PMU), environment monitoring unit (EMU), and thermal monitoring
unit. The ECC500 ensures system reliability and operation security, and schedules site energy
as required, saving energy and reducing site operational expenditure (OPEX).

Figure 1-1 ECC500

1.2 Benefits
Hybrid Power Scheduling
The ECC500 schedules energy such as solar energy, fuel, mains and storage batteries to
maximize the use of renewable energy and reduce the use of non-renewable energy, ensuring
steady and reliable power supply.

Battery Management
The ECC500 manages the voltage of boost or floating charge, voltage adjustment,
temperature compensation and current limit coefficient based on the energy usage and
system status to ensure the proper running of storage batteries.
The ECC500 calculates remaining storage battery capacity, duration for battery charge
and discharge per day, and perform operations based on the calculation results.

ECC500(PowerCube)
User Manual 1 ECC500 Overview

D.G. Monitoring
The ECC500 remotely starts or shuts down one or two diesel generators, and monitors
their running status in real time.
The ECC500 supports any combination of the AMF25 and the diesel generator (D.G.).
The D.G. can start, shut down, or warm up without loads.

Management on Intelligent Components and Loads

The ECC500 locally and remotely manages intelligent components for energy and
environment monitoring, such as the AMF25, battery management unit (BMU), and
power supply unit (PSU).
The ECC500 identifies and stores electronic labels of intelligent southbound components
and its local electronic label.
The ECC500 controls the disconnection order of loads based on the subrack connected.
For the direct current distribution unit (DCDU) subrack, the ECC500 disconnects
primary loads first, then secondary loads, and finally storage batteries.
For the integrated distribution unit (IDU) subrack, the ECC500 disconnects four
loads first, and then storage batteries.

Communication
The ECC500 reports site information including alarms, statistics, and current status to
northbound equipment over out-band transmission and in-band transmission. It also
receives control and configuration information from northbound equipment and performs
operations accordingly such as opening or closing dry contacts or controlling southbound
equipment.
The ECC500 communicates with southbound equipment over controller area network
(CAN), all-purpose master/slave protocols, and Modbus to collect required data for other
modules. It also sends control and configuration commands to southbound equipment for
battery connection control.
Over northbound communication, applications of the ECC500 and northbound
equipment can be loaded online and their electronic labels can be queried.

Statistics Collection and Storage

The ECC500 collects performance data, such as the generated energy of D.G. or mains,
remaining battery electricity, and load power consumption, and stores the data every 5
minutes, per hour, per day, per month or per year.
The ECC500 locally stores, queries, and monitors southbound components and sensors.
The ECC500 exports historical data over the web user interface (WebUI) or Network
Ecosystem (NetEco).

NOTE

To ensure the security of data transmission, the NetEco transmits data after encrpting it over SSL.

User-friendly Interface
Running parameters of monitored equipment such as the alternating current (AC), direct
current (DC), battery status, and control parameters are displayed on the liquid crystal
display (LCD), WebUI or NetEco in real time.

ECC500(PowerCube)
User Manual 1 ECC500 Overview

Site setup and network connection parameters of the site and NetEco such as IP
addresses and access point names (APNs) can be set over the LCD to implement
laptop-free deployment.
TheLCD/WEB allows you to obtain real-time information, alarms, and statistics from
corresponding tab pages and send control commands.
Over the WebUI or NetEco, historical performance data can be exported, and the
ECC500 and southbound component software can be remotely upgraded.

Alarm Determination and Management

If a fault occurs, an alarm is generated and displayed on the LCD, WebUI, and NetEco.
If the ECC500 determines that an alarm is generated, it turns on the alarm indicator,
displays the alarm information on the LCD and WebUI, and reports the alarm to the
NetEco.
If the ECC500 determines that an alarm is cleared, it turns off the alarm indicator and
notifies the NetEco of the alarm clearance, and the alarm information on the LCD and
WebUI disappears.
A maximum of 500 active alarms can be displayed, 1500 historical alarms can be saved,
and cleared alarms can be queried on the LCD.

Log Management
The ECC500 records operation logs in detail, such as D.G. management logs. These logs can
be viewed and downloaded over the WebUI and NetEco.

1.3 Typical Application Scenarios

The ECC500 transmits data in-band and out-of-band modes.
The ECC500 supports out-of-band communication by GPRS or IP. If the ECC500
communicates by GPRS, it must be configured with a GPRS module. GPRS stands
for General Packet Radio Service.
The ECC500 communicates in in-band mode over RS485/RS232 or Huawei base
transceiver station (BTS).
The NetEco is configured based on customer requirements.
