TheKayotsargamethodisfoundtobeveryusefulbymanyJains.Itmeansselfawarenessbycomplete
relaxation.Thepractitionertakesacomfortablepostureeitherlyingdownorsittingorstandingand
breathescalmly.Thenautosuggestseachandeverypartandentityofthebodytoberelaxedandfeelthe
same.Oncethebodyiscompletelyrelaxed,thepractitionerpracticestorealizeseparateexistenceofsoul
frombodyandthenforgetsaboutthebodyandpracticestoidentifytheSelf.Thenonepracticesof
completeawarenessoftheselfwithoutanyhindrance.

Inpindsthadhynaoneimaginesoneselfsittingallaloneinthemiddleofavastoceanofmilkona
lotusflower,meditatingonthesoul.Therearenolivingbeingsaroundwhatsoever.Thelotusisidentical
toJambdvpa,withMountMeruasitsstalk.Nextthemeditatorimaginesa16petalledlotusatthelevel
ofhisnavel,andoneachpetalareprintedthe(Sanskrit)lettersarhamandalsoaninvertedlotusof8
petalsatthelocationofhisheart.Suddenlythelotusonwhichoneisseatedflaresupatthenaveland
flamesgraduallyriseuptotheinvertedlotus,burningitspetalswitharisinggoldenflamewhichnot
onlyburnshisorherbody,butalsotheinvertedlotusattheheart(continueinnextslide)

Theflamesrisefurtheruptothethroatwhirlingintheshapeofaswastikaandthenreachthehead,
burningitentirely,whiletakingtheformofathreesidedpyramidofgoldenflamesabovethehead,
piercingtheskullsharpendstraightup.Thewholephysicalbodyischarred,andeverythingturnsinto
glowingashes.Thusthepindaorbodyisburntoffandthepuresoulsurvives.Thensuddenlyastrong
windblowsoffalltheashesandoneimaginesthataheavyrainshowerwashesalltheashesaway,and
thepuresoulremainsseatedonthelotus.ThatpureSoulhasinfinitevirtues,itisMyself.WhyshouldI
getpollutedatall?Onetriestoremaininhispurestnature.ThisiscalledPindsthaDhyna,inwhich
oneponderstherealityoffeelingandexperiencing.

InPadsthaDhynaonefocusesonsomemantras,wordsorthemes.Coupleofimportantmantra
examplesare,OMitsignifiesremembranceofthefiveclassesofspiritualbeings(theembodiedand
