INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION CENTRE INTERNSHIPS

The International Education Centre at Bangor University is looking to appoint four students
to undertake one-year internships as part of the Universitys International Experience
programme in 2017/18.

The internships are full-time and designed to give students significant work experience in
an international environment to greatly enhance their employability upon graduation.
Participants will receive a grant of 4,300 and will be required to attend three overseas
training visits with costs covered by the Erasmus+ programme.

Successful applicants will undertake the internships as an additional International
Experience Year, receive an enhanced degree title and 30 additional Bangor credits on
successful completion to reflect their work. The internships are a combination of work
experience, overseas visits and academic reflection exercises.

Only undergraduate students are eligible for these internships and although some students
will be ineligible due to professional accreditation or visa issues, most should be eligible.


Further particulars for the internships are provided below:

International Student Mobility (1 x Intern)
The interns will work with the International Exchanges Office to provide operational and
developmental support to the management of students and staff participating in short- term
study abroad opportunities, such as Erasmus+ and other exchange programmes throughout
the world. This will involve promoting and gaining experience in all aspects of mobility.

International Recruitment (1 x Intern) & International Marketing (1 x Interns)
The interns will work with the Marketing and Recruitment Offices to provide operational
and developmental support for marketing campaigns and recruitment activities in
respective geographies. This will involve activities related to market research, student
acquisition, student conversion, and existing student liaison through print, student
communications, social media campaigns and website optimisation.

Successful candidates will be excellent communicators, highly-organised and efficient
individuals who enjoy and can cope with a demanding and complex range of administrative
and student-facing duties. Accuracy, cultural understanding and sensitivity are essential for
these roles. The interns will be working with both incoming and outgoing students/staff,
therefore learning Welsh may be a component of the internships.

Starting Dates are subject to negotiation but will run 01 September 2017 to 30 June 2018
in principle.

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGES OFFICE


THE POST

Post: International Exchanges Intern (1 position available)
Grade: Student Training Grant approx. 4,300
Reports to: Head of International Exchanges


MAIN PURPOSE

This post will be located in the International Exchanges Office and its main purpose is to
provide work experience for students in an international environment through supporting
the Offices incoming and outgoing administrative and developmental work.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitor, process and maintain student and staff documentation relating to both funded
and non-funded mobility programmes. This will include extensive use of both physical
and electronic data and record management systems and is applicable to incoming and
outgoing activities.

Provide high-quality front-line support to incoming and outgoing students and staff as
well as institutional partners including both face-to-face, telephone and electronic
queries.

To assist other team members in promoting outgoing exchange opportunities among
University staff and students.

Assist in developing and maintaining the International Exchanges website and social
media network.

To assist in all and lead on some aspects of Welcome & Orientation for incoming
students, Pre-Departure for outgoing students and Mini-Graduations necessitating
paperwork preparation, room/catering bookings and coordination with related staff.
This will involve some out of hours work at certain times of the year.

Maintain and organise office resources to include exchange partner information.

Provide general support in organising individual and group meetings as well as
coordinating incoming visits.

INTERNATIONAL RECRUITMENT OFFICE


THE POST

Post: International Recruitment Intern (1 position available)
Grade: Student Training Grant approx. 4300
Reports to: Head of International Recruitment


MAIN PURPOSE

The intern will work within the International Recruitment team to provide operational and
developmental support to International Officers for their recruitment campaigns and
activities worldwide. This will involve activities related to market research, answering
student enquiries, following up on leads collected during recruitment events overseas,
supporting offer holders, campus tours/open days, attending recruitment events within the
UK for International students, supporting Education Agents and use of social media.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out market research projects on behalf of the Head of International recruitment
and International Officers to explore current trends in international recruitment. This
will include compiling and analysing data from a range of sources (databases, the web,
electronic and paper based) and writing reports.

Provide support to International Officers to follow up leads and enquiries taken
during International recruitment events, in an effort to convert these enquiries to
applications and enrolments. This will involve contacting students by email, phone
and Social Media to provide additional information on Bangor University.

Organising and providing campus tours to potential International Students, offer
holders and recruitment agents. Will involve liaising with relevant academic schools,
marketing teams and halls to organize the visit and accompanying
students/recruitment agents on the tours.

Attending recruitments events (mainly UK based) with International Recruitment
staff including Education Fairs, visits to Education Agents and School visits to
promote Bangor University.

Providing support to International Officers to prepare for overseas recruitment trips.
May include arranging delivery of freight, travel, accommodation, visa applications
and appointments, booking education fairs and preparing requirement paperwork.

Providing support to International Officers and while they are overseas as required.

Answering student and education agent enquiries through email, phone and social
media channels and liaising with the International Admissions team and International
Marketing Team as required.

Working with the Senior Clerical Officer to provide additional administrative and
operational support to the team as required.

INTERNATIONAL MARKETING OFFICE

Due to the nature of the internship, preference will be given to Business Studies/Marketing
students.


THE POST

Post: International Marketing Intern
Grade: Student Training Grant approx. 4300
Reports to: Head of International Marketing


MAIN PURPOSE

The intern will work with the Marketing Office to provide support for both traditional and
digital marketing campaigns. This involves activities related to print publications, student
communications, social media campaigns, website optimisation, competitor research, and
other international student acquisition & conversion campaigns.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in developing and maintaining our digital marketing channels aimed at
International students which include International Website, Chinese website, and Social
media channels including Facebook, Weibo, Twitter, and Instagram.

Helping marketing office in designing and printing our marketing publications including
International Guide, Newsletters, Brochures, Leaflets, and Banners.

Providing support in the planning, set-up, and evaluation of various lead generation
campaigns aimed at generating prospects in selected geographies.

Carry out competitor research projects to explore current trends in international
marketing. This will include analysing various marketing channels adopted by different
competitors, their effectiveness, and explore possibilities for Bangor University.

Playing a key role in designing and executing campaigns aimed at converting
international offer holders to enrolment at Bangor. This may involve working around
existing CRM plans, telephone call campaigns, and the website.

Conducting audit of partner/agent websites and publications and taking lead in
implementing the required amendments.

Collecting student testimonials about their study experience at Bangor, and processing
them further for website/print publications.

Answering potential student enquiries through email and social media channels and
liaising with the International Admissions team and International Recruitment team as
required.

Working with the International Marketing Assistant to provide additional administrative
and operational support as required.
