Performance Objective: After this lesson, students will be able to identify elements on the periodic table by its
property and its interaction of other elements.

Materials Needed: Computers, Internet, Paper & pencils
Equipment Needed: Teacher will need a computer connected to the Smartboard to demonstrate setting up a Prezi
free account and to demonstrate a mini-lesson using the site.
Desired Student Prerequisites: Students have learned the basics of the periodic table: names & symbols,
identifying atomic number & mass, characteristics of metals, nonmetals & metalloids, as well as how to identify
elements by groups and columns.
Closing: Exit Tickets- Students will write one new concept learned, and one
misconception.
Day 2: Have Prezi opened and ready

The students will work independently by exploring & reading about element properties & interactions.
The students will work independently to create element Prezi presentation.
Summary
Lesson Closure: The students will participate in a review session on element properties & interactions using
Kahoot.

Extension/Enrichment:
Each student is assigned one specific element. They will research the element, and learn about its background.
They will create a banner of the element to be used to make a class periodic table of elements.
Accommodations/Differentiation:
Allow additional time for completion.
