hands on and cooperative learning experience in the process of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and to improve decision making skills through the use of probability. [THE WEEK AHEAD]
I will have a lesson plan for the students
Subject: Math next week about the five senses. (Classifying, counting, rounding, graphing, ratios, probability, estimating) Charts and graphs are not only valuable instruments for communicating data quickly and simply, they can be tools for stimulating discussion, and aids in promoting mathematical thinking. Graphing activities for elementary students should include more than fixed displays of information. A hands-on, relevant lesson can be a successful way of teaching concepts which students are more likely to retain. M&M Graphing and Probability can be as simple as making a pictograph, or as involved as predicting and determining probability. [REMINDERS] Students need to bring in a small bag of M&M's, pencil, paper, crayons or markers for the Math lesson. The materials for the lesson of the five senses will be due on a later time. Ill send a reminder with the students. VOCABULARY Classifying- To assign things to categories. Counting- Taking a particular thing into consideration in a total. reducing the digits in a number while trying to keep it's value similar. Reminder students must read at least 30minutes each Rounding- reducing the digits in a day.
number while trying to keep it's value
similar. Ms. Gonzalez
Graphing- A diagram used to indicate
relationships between two or more variable quantities. Ratios- A proportional relationship between two different numbers or quantities. Probability- the likelihood that an event will occur, expressed as the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes in the set of outcomes divided by the total number of possible outcomes. Estimating- To make an approximate calculation of something.
