Students sitting MCQ tests on QMP
QMP (Questionmark Perception) is an assessment management tool for delivering online MCQ Tests. This guide is
intended to prepare you for upcoming MCQ assessments. We recommend you read this guide carefully before your
first assessment.

Logging into QMP

1. All QMP MCQ Tests are available on StudyNet, from the Module page via Teaching Resources or by
clicking on the following link:

https://ondemand.questionmark.eu/602232/perception/

To log on to QMP, use your University login details and the QMP password emailed to you. If you
have lost your email, please go to the 'assessment' tab in the 'My Course' section on StudyNet
where you will find an option to re-send your QMP password.

When you have logged into QMP any assessments you have been scheduled on, will be listed
under the Quiz tab. If your assessment is not displayed here please check the MCQ Test open
and close times before contacting the Law admin office.
NB You will only see the test during the opening hours.

Note:
If you are unable to login using the above information please email helpdesk@herts.ac.uk (technical
problems) or Lawadmin@herts.ac.uk using the subject line QMP Login. Please supply your full
name, Student number and module code in the body of your email before you start to explain the
problem.

LAW FAMILIARISATION TESTS

2. When you have logged into QMP you will see the test that you are due to take and the QMP Law
Familiarisation test.

You MUST take the Law familiarisation test before every MCQ test to check that your set up is
working properly even if there are more than one MCQ test on the same day.

We run reports on the system to extract your results and if you subsequently report problems with
the test and have not taken the familiarisation test then no further investigation will be undertaken
and you will not be eligible to have the test rescheduled.

Taking an MCQ Assessment

We strongly recommend you do not start any assessment until you are absolutely certain you are ready
to begin. There is no going back after you launch an assessment.

Read through any instructions provided at the start of your assessment.

The MCQ test is open for 24hrs from 10.00am (start date) to 10.00am on the following day (end
date).

Note the length of the MCQ test, the number of questions you need to answer (this will either be 15
questions in 30 minutes or 30 questions in 60 minutes) and any materials that you need to look at
in advance. If you have a study needs agreement which allows extra time, this will have been worked
out for you and included in the allocated time.

1. To start the assessment, simply click its title or the start button.

2. When you have completed your assessment you should press the submit button. Once submitted
your answers cannot be changed.

3. If you fail to submit within the time allocated, any answers given will be submitted automatically.

Rules to Remember
There are some rules which you must remember when completing any QMP assessment in a browser.
Once the assessment has started:
1. Do not press the "Back" or "Forward" buttons in your browser window.

2. Do not press the "Refresh" button in your browser window or the F5 key on your keyboard

3. Do not press the Escape (Esc) key on the keyboard.

4. Do not press the Backspace key on the keyboard.

Top Tips for Preparation

1. Make sure your firewall is not blocking your connection to the Questionmark Server if using a
personal computer.

2. Close all unnecessary applications running on your computer and ensure no other browser windows
are open.

3. Ensure the time and date on your machine is set correctly according to your local time zone.

4. Make arrangements to take the assessment in a place free from distraction and interruption.

5. Make sure you have completed the Familiarisation Test at this location and report any technical
difficulties prior to the actual assessment taking place.
We recommend you take the Familiarisation assessment on the machine and in the location that
you intend to use for the actual assessment.

6. Ensure you have access to a watch or clock to monitor the time.

7. Print a copy of these guidelines for reference when taking an assessment.

8. All assessments dates and times are based on current UK local time.
