Patients Information and Billing System of SIBA Diagnostic Center Tacloban City

Introduction

SIBA Diagnostic Center as a establishment where it offers different services to

their clients/patients such as x-ray, ultrasound, urinalysis, echocardiogram (ECG) and

other laboratory examination especially regarding with their patients/clients health.

Computerized patients information and billing system will be really a big help

with the establishment especially with their expenses and rendering services in their

patients/clients in fast and accurate way. They can saved time, effort and money which is

a big key for their establishment success.

Background of the Study

SIBA stands for SIO BALDERIAN. It is owned by Dr. Rustico Balderian and

managed by his sister Iditha Custodio. It started in early 1980’s.

Their current manual system is time consuming that makes their clients/patients

angry and sometimes irritable because they have to write down one by one all the

information and the result of examination of their patients/clients.

They spend money a lot because they have to hired personnel’s to handle

every task in accommodating their patients / clients need. They accommodate 30

patients/clients every day.

They offer the following services:

1. X-ray examination

2. Ultrasound

3. Urinalysis

4. Laboratory Examination

5. Echocardiogram(ECG)

The researchers are proposing a computerized information and billing

system using a programming language that would make the information and billing

system of SIBA Diagnostic Center more faster and accurate than their existing

manual system.

Statement of the Problem

This study introduces a computerized system that would help and improve

the information and billing system of SIBA Diagnostic Center.

Specifically this study aimed to answer the following questions:

1. What is the status of the following system to their existing manual system?

a. Information of Patients/clients.

b. Result of Examination
 c. Issuing Receipt.

2. How will this proposed system help to improve the present manual system?

Significance of the Study

This study significant since it will help the following beneficiaries:

1. Patients/clients

They will not able to wait for a long period of time in getting the results of

examination they undergo and getting their bill.

2. Establishment

They can accommodate their patients/clients in fast and accurate way; both the

establishment and the patients/clients will have their records. They can rendered a printed

copy of the results of examination to their patients, most of all they can saved time,

money and effort.

3. Researcher

The completion of the research study would serve as a partial fulfillment for the

proponents course degree. However, the study will facilitate the application of the thesis,

principles and concepts learned by the proponent during their academic years .The study

will also gives the proponents opportunities to discover new ideas & concepts along the

course study.
Scope & Delimitation

The proposed system focuses only to the patient’s information & billing system

on issuing their bill/receipts regarding to what service they rendered from the diagnostic

center & the result of the examination will be recorded & saved. The result will then be

printed out for the patient’s convenience.

Definition of Terms

• BILLING

The process of sending a bill to a customer for goods on services. The bill

may be attached to the goods or forwarded separately.

• DIAGNOSTIC

Concerned with diagnosis; used for furthering diagnosis; “a diagnostic

reading test”.

Characteristic or indication of a disease; “ a diagnostic sign of yellow

fever “; “ symptomatic of insanity”.

• ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY(ECG)
 A transthoracic, interpretation of the electrical activity of the heart over

time captured an externally recorded by skin electrodes. It is a noninvasive

recording produced by an echocardiography device.

• INFORMATION

In its most restricted technical sense, is an ordered sequence of symbols.

A process raw facts on data.

• PATIENT

Is any person who receives medical attention, care, or treatment by a

physician on other heath care professional, although one who is writing a

physician for a routine check-up may also be viewed as a patients.

• REPORT

Documents which present focused salient content to specific audience.

Often used to display the result of an experiment, investigation or

inquiry .The audience maybe public or private, an individual or the public

in general.

Used in government, business, education, science and other fields.

• SERVICE
 Is the intangible equivalent of an economic good. Service provision is

often an economic

good. Service provisions are often an economic activity where the buyer does not

generally, except by exclusive contract, obtain exclusive ownership of the thing

purchased.

• ULTRASOUND

Using the reflections of high-frequency sound waves to construct an

image of a body organ(a sonogram); commonly used to observed fetal growth or

study bodily organs.

• X-RAY

Electromagnetic radiation of short wavelength produced when high-

speed electrons strike a solid target.
