HS-SCCH use High Speed Shared Control Channel (HS-SCCH) monitors the
theoretical throughput performance in percent of the channel.
The HS-SCCH is a fixed rate (60 kbps, SF=128) downlink physical
channel that carries downlink signaling, which is related to HS-DSCH
transmission. This channel provides timing and coding information,
which allows the UE to listen to the HS-DSCH at the correct time and
using the correct codes to allow successful decoding of UE data.
CQI Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) is a measurement of the communication
quality of wireless channels.
CQI can be one or more values that represent a measure of channel
quality. Typically, a high value CQI is indicative of a high quality channel
and a low value is indicative of a low quality channel. A CQI for a
channel can be computed from a channel performance metric, such as a
signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), signal-to-interference plus noise ratio
(SINR), or signal-to-noise plus distortion ratio (SNDR). These and other
values can be measured and then used to compute a CQI for the
channel. The CQI of a channel can be dependent upon the transmission
(modulation) scheme that is used by the communications system.

7 Positioning
This chapter describes how to configure QPAEngine to use GPS and position markers. Such
markers are useful to find specific events or positions when you review your measurement results
in the NQDI post-processing software.

Using GPS
For GPS functionality in QPAEngine, you need a Bluetooth GPS device. The only exception is the
Nokia N95 phone, which has an internal GPS.
A Bluetooth GPS device can only serve one phone at a time and requires line of site access to at
least three GPS satellites to compute a valid position. For best results, turn on the GPS device at
least five minutes before you begin a test that uses a GPS. If a job requires GPS, QPAEngine
waits until the phone receives valid GPS information to start the job.

Note: Weather, terrain, and buildings can interfere with the signal reception.

Configuring GPS
Before you can use a GPS device, you need to configure the GPS settings in QPAEngine.

To use the internal GPS on a Nokia N95 phone

1. Select Options > Settings > GPS > SA GPS usage.

Note: When you configure QPAEngine manually, that is, without Test Manager,
the phone is in Semi-Automatic (SA) mode.

2. Select Internal and then select OK.

To pair a phone with a Bluetooth GPS device

1. Select Options > Settings > GPS > Select BT-GPS device.

2. Select the GPS device in the list and then press Select.
If you do not see the device, turn the device on and off, and then repeat steps 1 and 2.

Note: To pair with a Bluei BT GPS Receiver, enter the 0000 passkey in your
phone at the prompt. You only have to enter this passkey for the first start.

To configure a Bluetooth GPS device

Important: Only the phone, that is, the A-side job, waits for the valid position.
The B-side job starts regardless of whether of the validity of the GPS position. This
setting only works with a Bluetooth GPS device.

5. (Optional) Select GPS Log Interval, enter the amount of time to wait between log entries in
seconds, and then select OK.

Important: This setting only works with a Bluetooth GPS device. To keep the log
files small, enter a high value. To obtain high resolution positioning data, enter a low
value. The first valid GPS position in the test as well as the first valid position after a
period of invalid data are always added to the log.

6. Select Set Speed Unit, select a unit in the list, and then select OK.

Using Position Markers

Position markers help you to quickly find special events or positions when you examine your
measurement data in the NQDI post-processing software. During a test, you can add markers

based on a floor map for indoor tests and predefined text markers for outdoor tests. The markers
are added to the measurement file and processed by NQDI during import.

Text Markers
Before you can use text markers in QPAEngine, you need to prepare and copy a .csv file with the
text markers to your phone. When you add a text marker during a measurement, QPAEngine
inserts a timestamp along with the marker in the results file.
Create the .csv file so that each row corresponds to one text marker, for example:
Bridge
Subway
Shopping Mall
Stadium
Bus
Taxi
If you want to save positions with the text, use the following format:
Corner1;3.82247;-1.23092
Corner2;3.20044;-1.71962
After you create the .csv file, copy the file to the following location on the phone:

To enable text markers for an outdoor test

1. Copy the .csv files with the text markers to the following location:
On Symbian 9.1 and later, copy the file to:

1. Press # on the keypad.
2. Select a marker from the list, and then press Select.

Map Markers
The Map Marker feature allows you to add waypoints to a floor map during a measurement. Each
waypoint is automatically converted to a position on a standard projection of the floor map in
World Geodetic System, revision WGS84. As a result, NQDI does not need to generate an
additional projection in post-processing.
When add a map marker, that is, a waypoint, during a test, QPAEngine inserts a timestamp along
with the marker in the results file. When your import the file into the NQDI database, NQDI
interpolates the positions of each measurement based on the waypoints that you se during the
test.

To enable map markers for an indoor test

1. Take a picture of the test area, for example, the floor plan, with the built-in camera of the
phone.

Note: If possible, set the image quality to MMS 0.3M and use the memory card
as the storage location. If you want, you can also transfer a floor plan image from a
computer to your phone.

2. Select Options > Settings > Marker Settings > Marker Type > Map Marker.

3. Select Map Marker File, locate the image that you want to use, and the press Select.
