AUTO-DUMP TOOL

For wells that have a ball and seat, there are instances
when the well has too much fluid and liquid slug in the Casing & Tubing Pressure
tubing, which may prevent the plunger from rising to Equalized at Surface
the surface. When this happens, the PCS Ferguson Casing
Auto-Dump Tool can be installed to allow the ball and
seat to reduce the amount liquid slug in the tubing
without drying up the well.
Tubing

HOW IT WORKS
Installed below a bottom hole bumper spring, the PCS
Ferguson Auto-Dump Tool operates like a pressure
regulator. When the pressure above the tool is greater
than the pressure below, the ball and seat are forced
downward until the ball contacts the sleeve. The ball
then moves off the seat, allowing fluid to pass through
the tool and dumps the fluid into the casing. The
auto-dump tool will continue to dump the fluid until the
pressure differential across the tool equals the pressure
setting of the tool.*
Fluid level in tubing

The auto-dump tool only dumps when the casing and

Fluid level in casing
tubing pressure are equalized at the surface. When
equalized, the auto-dump tool pushes fluid in the
casing, reducing the amount of fluid in the tubing and
allows the plunger to run its full cycle.

*The auto-dump tool is set at the factory to hold 56 psi or
Bbl of water, but the pressure differential is adjustable by
adding or removing washers in the tool.
