Understanding Pixel Size

Pixel Size refers to how big the

individual pixels are on the

1.4 m
camera sensor

The bigger the pixel size, the

more light is captured in the
sensor, thus the brighter the
photos

1.4 m
1.12 m
Pixel size is normally measured in m,
ranging from 1.1 m to 1.4 m

Dual Pixel Faster Auto Focus
For the first time on a smartphone, all the pixels on the image sensor have two photodiodes instead of
one, meaning the professional-grade Dual Pixel Sensor can focus as quickly and as accurately as you

would with your own eyes.

Every single pixel on the Dual Pixel Sensor is used for phase detection, enabling Auto Focus that's so
incredibly fast and seamless that even the most sudden movements are caught in the act, even in low
light conditions

Multi AF/Centre AF

Multi-Point AF
Multi-Point AF automatically selects between
a number of AF points finds the most
contrasty subject among those AF points.

Example of how Multi-Point AF focused

on the more contrasty background well
behind the main subject (the lone green
leaf left on the bush).

Even though the green leaf is in the center of the

frame, Multi-Point AF has chosen to focus on the
more contrasty background around it instead.

Tips! ~ If your default AF mode is Multi-Point AF The result is that the ground of fallen leaves come
and some of your shots are sometimes out of out in focus, while the main subject is out of focus.
focus, it may be that Multi-Point AF is the culprit.
Manual Adjustment [Multi AF/Centre AF]

Centre AF
If you look at the camera of your S7/S7 edge, there
will usually be a square at the point which you tap
on the screen, commonly called the AF Frame. When
your camera is set to Center AF mode, this square
that appears on the screen is your AF point.

Example of how Centre AF is focused on

the main subject which is the green leaf
2 Metering mode refers to the way in which a camera determines the exposure

Centre-weighted metering prioritize the middle of the frame, great

for close-up portraits and relatively large subjects that are in the
middle of the frame.

e.g A person with the sun behind him/her, then this mode would expose the
face of the person correctly, even though everything else would probably get
heavily overexposed.

Matrix metering most commonly used mode, dividing the entire

frame into multiple zones which are then all analyzed on individual
basis

e.g suitable for landscape / portrait photography

Spot metering evaluates light around the focus point and ignores
everything else.

e.g suitable for small subjects, like stationary birds

5 Manual Adjustment [White Balance]

Daylight Fluorescent

Adjust white balance to get the colors in

your images as accurate as possible
e.g under fluorescent lamp
6 Manual Adjustment [ISO]

ISO determines how sensitive

the image sensor is to light,
thus determining how much
light is captured.

Most of the time is set as AUTO

for best result

Note: the higher the ISO, the noisy the

photos turns out (grainy result)

7 Manual Adjustment [Shutter Speed]

Shutter Speed is amount of time the camera sensor is exposed

to light or the amount of time the shutter is open.
It is measured in seconds
