Chebyshev Stepped Impedance Filter

An electronic filter is a device designed to separate, pass, or suppress a group of signals from a
set of the same. This device is selective in frequency and is designed in a specific and
predictable way. Chebyshev filters are filters whose characteristic is that in the passband has
highs and lows instead of a flat response but in the rejection band there is no oscillations but a
flat response.

Filter Features

The magnitude response describes the gain magnitude of a circuit as a function of the
frequency under sinusoidal excitation conditions.
The passband is defined as the frequency range that a filter allows to pass, with
minimal attenuation or with some amplification. The reject band, are all other
frequencies not contemplated in the passband.
Cut-off frequency (C) or also called corner frequency or critical frequency. It is the
frequency where the amplitude response is 3 dB below the pitch value.
Gain of the passband (H0). It is the gain that is obtained by the amplification of the
passband. It is obtained in filters containing a gain generator or an active device, since
it can amplify the input signal in the passband of the filter.
Attenuation of the slope (rolloff) or order. It describes the rate at which the gain of a
filter decreases outside the passband. It is normally measured in octaves of dB (dB /
octaves) or decades of dB (dB / decades). The ratio becomes -6n dB / octaves or -20n
dB / decades for n-order filters.

Filtro Pasa-Banda

The bandpass filter has the characteristic of transmitting a range of frequencies (passband) and
rejecting two frequency bands (rejection bands), one of the rejection bands contains
frequencies lower than the frequencies of the passband ( 1), whereas the other rejection
band contains frequencies greater than those of the passband (2). The frequency range that
is transmitted is called Bandwidth or BW and is defined as the difference between the
frequencies that define the bandwidth limits.

Coumpled Transmission lines

A coupled transmission line consists of two metal strips of length 1, width wm and spacing s,
which can be constructed on a dielectric substrate of relative permittivity r and thickness h.
