Study Plan:

December Break: listen to all of Goljan audio while taking notes on word document
similar to taking notes during class lectures. In 2 weeks I was able to listen to all of Goljan
with a couple days off for family and friends. Accomplishing this task gave me excellent
background and foundation for future studying.
January 1st: Start Uworld. I did subject tests, untimed, tutor mode i.e. my first test was
46 questions of cardiology. The questions were very difficult at first but helped me get
accustomed to what I would need to be a pro at in the end.
January, February, March: Completed Uworld two times. Would do 1 block a day, and
then worked up to 2 blocks a day. In doing blocks, would keep a running word doc on
questions I got wrong and organized it according to how FA is set up. You need to calculate
how many questions there are, the number of blocks needed and how many days you have
total. I planned it so that I completed uworld two times by spring break (or even 1.5
times). During this time, I would also carefully read 10 pages of FA daily. I would also
study for classes and set aside time to do that everyday. The info you learn during this
semester is very high-yield.
Spring break: Took my first NBME at end of week after taking more uworld blocks and
reading FA. Scored 215-220. Did NBME 6 (very outdated one!, not true to real test).
April: 1-2 blocks of uworld daily, plus 10-15 pages of FA reading. Would do an NBME
every two weeks on the actual day I was planning on taking the test. Went from 220, 230,
242, 250, 252, 259 about every 2 weeks. Would focus on topics I was weak on based on my
score report from NBME tests by reading FA, watching some Kaplan videos on that section
and even some DIT (especially for neuro for which I watched all the DIT and Kaplan
videos).
May: Continued same pattern of uworld 2 blocks daily, reading FA, focused on weak areas
with suppl material, and taking NBMEs (some from prior month were carried into May, I
was able to complete all NBMEs available online before June). I also took one uworld
practice test (262). Now, for the third pass of uworld I did completely random and timed.
During this month I also revisited Goljan and went thru entire audio again, watched
Pathoma (almost finished it), and dabbled in flashcards for pharm and micro (though I
never really found any I liked too much BRS were too basic and Lange were way too
detailed esp for pharm). By the end I had now completed uworld 3.5 times and read FA
about 4 or 5 times.
June (Week prior to test): The week prior I took a practice test at the center. Then that
same day I found the answers online to the practice test (aka Free 150) and went over all
the questions. The rest of the week I took one more pass through FA entirely and went
through my notes that I had taken from uworld questions (a 50 page document), and my
goljan document I had made (less high-yield, wasted my time here). I also took one more
uworld practice test (number 2 of 2) and scored 265. This was risky but a huge confidence
boost once I got my score. This was about 3-4 days prior to the test
The day before: Most people do nothing, which is fine, but I heard of some people missing
easy test questions from micro and pharm, so I ran through all of micro and pharm
sections in FA. Finished by noon and was able to relax for the rest of the day. I needed to
have these easily-forgettable facts at the forefront of my brain prior to test day, but again
dont study the day prior if it will mess up your sleep schedule. Final score was 262.
