Engineers are creative both as initiators and implementers of new ideas.

Engineers invent
new technologies, such as the telephone or the silicon chip, and they help to make other
peoples ideas work, such as structural and geotechnical engineers creating technical
solutions to make an architects design for a building stand up. The creative work of
engineers is often hidden in the details of everyday life, invisible precisely because it
works.
This can come as a surprise to those who imagine engineering to be formulaic problem
solving analyzing a problem to come to a known, single solution. Many of the problems
facing society and engineering today are new and complex. As a society we have never
before faced a problem like human-induced climate change. Never before have we had
the capacity to produce and share so much data about our world, our lives and our
finances. Never before have had we had a human population of 7billion people, all
needing food, water, shelter, education, employment and healthcare. In a competitive
global market, engineers must constantly innovate to create new solutions and invent new
ways of solving problems. Engineers, who expect to provide the same, standard answers
in an ever changing, complex world, will soon be out of work.

Engineers have been highly successful in creating the complex technical systems that
make
modern life possible. Unfortunately, we have been less successful in anticipating and
addressing the negative consequences of our creations. Creativity comes with
responsibility.
Engineers have devised ever more efficient ways of extracting fossil fuels from the Earth
and
burning them for human benefit, and so must take central responsibility for addressing
the
urgent problems of climate change through energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Engineers have designed and built cars, roads and motorways, and so must face up to the
social and environmental problems of congestion, urban sprawl, emissions and rising fuel
costs. We have built water systems that provide endless supply to homes despite fresh
water
being a scarce resource in many places, and now engineers must help people find ways to
reduce water wastage. Engineers have created technical systems that have transformed
society and the environment. Whilst we should celebrate our achievements we must also
acknowledge our failures
Normally, and in several diverse countries, the engineering professionals are criticized for a number of
occurrences that take place and which negatively affected people or the environment. That engineers
do affects the society and its development and, occasionally, the consequences of these actions are not
totally thought out, not expected, or not fully unstated, but the results are undesirable just the same. In
order to meet the challenges of the time engineers must be properly prepared to face the moral, legal
and ethical ramifications of their actions. Hence, to meet their responsibilities to society at large and
the global community, we as future engineers must be equipped with the knowledge and ability to fully
and cogently explain their actions as well as the methods to be used to implement their decisions. This is
particularly central in presenting the engineering alternatives that are considered so that informed
conclusions can be drawn and appropriate decisions drawn involving different segments of the society.
So for me

For me as a future Engineer the first critaStudent Learning - Student learning is everything from different
pathways to graduation, encouraging student voice in student learning, and encouraging them have a
place at the table for larger conversations about their education

1. The current critical issues that confront the society that may be affect the practice of my
profession are, student learning because it confirm how I knowledgeable in the theories that my
instructor teach us, and then Social Media because nowadays social media are also applicable
for teaching but some individuals are lack of knowledge in terms of the risk of social media for
teaching their student, so that some of Ethics and moral values that creates in regular room are
not earned by the students. And lastly I think the Poverty because in the last decades the global
populations are increasing therefore the student that enrolled in engineering course is highly
demand but the job for engineering is very low.
2. The possible engineering solution along with my field of specialization to address each of the
critical issues that is stated previously are MCDM Multi Criteria Decision Making tool that can be
validate the issues that I stated before. And also I propose the use of AHP Analytical Hierarchy
Process Because I think I can use the ranking, resource allocation and also prioritization analysis
to validate the problem issues and also to pick an alternatives that can solved the problem
issues.
Nowadays, the Philippines is facing number of problems; some of these problems will soon affect the
practice of my profession. One of these problems is the Environmental problem here in the country. This
environmental problem that I am referring to is about the pollution, and the global warming. One of the
said causes of this environmental problem is the progress of the technology; the blame is put on the
innovation and electronic wastes. Due to this, it is a big problem to those who innovate; in addition to
that, most of the ones who innovate are engineers. This may become a threat to the profession of the
engineers. On the other hand, it is also advantageous to them for it will need more innovations to fight
this environmental problem. Hence, it will open more opportunities to the engineers.

Another problem is the safety in the country. One of the problems that may affect the practice of the
engineers is the security. Extra Judicial Killing is a very hot topic in the Philippines today because of this,
the investors are avoiding investing in the country. With that being said, it can be realized that there will
be a little number of job opportunities for us Filipinos including the engineers. Moreover, there will be a
low chance of having someone to invest on the innovation of the engineers.
