OUR TEAM
Oxfams Major Donor Team is responsible for developing and maintaining innovative, ambitious
and sustainable partnerships with high net worth individuals. The Team delivers substantial income
to support Oxfams work and is a vital part of our Philanthropy & Partnerships Department.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR


The Major Gifts team have important objectives and some ambitious financial targets which require
us to significantly grow our income. Organisationally, there is a high priority on developing our
relationships with individual supporters and our CEO and Trustees are keen to play an increasing
role in peer-to-peer fundraising and expanding our networks.

The recent months have seen some big successes and we want to continue this momentum. We
are building the number of wealthy individuals that support us and further strengthening relations
with those already giving to us.

We want to recruit somebody motivated by our objectives and passionate about raising money for
the incredible work we do. The successful candidate will help to initiate, develop and build
ambitious and effective relationships with potential and existing supporters to secure significant,
multi-year funding for Oxfams work.

JOB PURPOSE
To build outstanding relationships with a small portfolio of individual supporters and potential
supporters whilst supporting other members of the Major Gifts Team with bespoke supporter
communications; proposal development; report writing; administrative tasks; events and other
areas where needed.

Our package Up to 25,000 p.a. depending on experience.

Hours of work
This is a full time role (36 hours).
However, Oxfam offers various flexible arrangements which
candidates can discuss with the Recruiting Manager at interview
stage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Meeting financial and key performance targets set by the Senior Account Manager and Head of
Major Gifts.
Supporting the Major Gifts team by preparing outstanding supporter communications in a
variety of formats including programme reports, event invitations and emails celebrating key
external annual events.
Updating Oxfams Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database and other information
systems in a timely, accurate manner and in-line with standards set by the Data Protection Act,
and providing support to other members of the team in this activity.
Championing the Major Gifts team pipeline function by identifying errors, reviewing activity and
encouraging best practice.
Supporting the team with financial reconciliations by reviewing/coordinating expected income,
major gifts giving reports, adjustment forms, gift aid tracking and high value giving reports.
Supporting with the induction of new team starters by preparing induction schedules and IT set-
up.
Developing and enhancing relationships with a small portfolio of approximately 40-50 Oxfam
supporters and potential supporters to secure five- and six-figure gifts for the organisations
priority programmes.
Looking for effective and innovative engagement opportunities to increase supporters interest
in, and commitment to, Oxfam, and sharing these with other members of the Major Gifts team.
Providing excellent, personalised stewardship to supporters, to ensure they are appropriately
thanked for their support and, as a result, feel connected to Oxfams work
Writing bespoke donor reports and proposals to an outstanding standard.
Representing the Major Gifts Team within Oxfam and developing excellent relationships across
the organisation.
Representing Oxfam at events, meetings and on programme visits as necessary.
Being highly responsive and adaptable in a fast paced fundraising environment.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively plan ahead and drive forward
projects autonomously, with very strong attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good relationships internally and
externally, at a senior level.
Proven track record of working with influential individuals, either in a charitable or
commercial organisation.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with a proven track record of
producing varied communications to a high standard for a range of audiences.
Excellent general administrative skills and previous office experience.
Ability to work effectively in a team.
Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own time.
Numerical analysis and budgeting skills.

Desirable
Demonstrable fundraising experience, preferable in a major gift or relationship building
context.
Knowledge and understanding of Oxfams work.
