The Chemical Engineer shall avoid being associated with any enterprise which is of questionable
character or is contrary to law or public welfare.

Explanation: Every Chemical Engineer should not be linked or connected with enterprise that is
similar brand with their work. They should not be accompanying someone who is interested to
know formulas of your products.

Example: Say, if you are working in a company of laundry bleachers and there is someone who
wants to be friend with you and tries to know the formula of the company. You have no right to
give it to others because the companys trusted you in the first place and they hired you to do
your job for your best. You should not be with someone whos trying to knock you or your
companys down. You cannot tell anyone about the formula that you used inside the plant.

The Chemical Engineer shall express a professional opinion only when he is adequately informed
of the facts related thereto and the purposes for which the opinion is asked.

Explanation: Chemical Engineers might have an opinion if he knows really well and if he has the
information and researches about the topic. He might have an opinion if he will give facts and if
he is asked to.

Example: if there are meeting for a research development to improve a particular product. You
can suggest or have an opinion if it is for the advancement and if you really have the facts to
prove that there is really a way to develop such particular product. It is better to just listen first
and jut down notes if you do not have something to say and it is sign of respect. Hence, if you
give a false fact, it is for you to take full responsibility of the risk that you might have taking in.

The Chemical Engineer shall not hesitate to engage, or advise his client or employer to engage
the services of other experts or specialists on problems on which his information or experience
is inadequate.

Explanation: The Chemical Engineer should not falter to recommend their clients to other who is
more experts and has a lot more experience that they have. Because if they try to solve for a
problem that they dont really know and does not encounter any of that the one factor that may
have become is failure. And it can cause a lot of time to waste and money as well.
 Example: If you are a fresh graduate and the manager of the company has a client and pass it to
you but you do not have a lot of experience, do not hesitate to advise your client to go and look
for more specialist in the industry. And by that, explain to them politely the causes that may
have gone through if you try pursuing it. You may recommend it to the higher staff of the plant
or you may recommend the client to have a consultant chemical engineer to further
information.

The Chemical Engineer shall not compete with another engineer unfairly, such as reducing his
usual professional charges for work after having been informed of the charges asked by others.

Explanation: it is not right to compete with other engineer especially with the other Chemical
Engineers. If you will be higher or lower in the company you should be just do your jobs well.

Example: you are in a big company with your classmates back in college, and they tend to get
promoted and you stay in your place in the company. You shall not backstab them and talk to others
about bad things that cant be true or something unprofessional. You cannot say that he is not good
enough way back in your college years. But indeed, you are in a same company and what you need
to do is team work and team effort to be the best.

The Chemical Engineer shall uphold at all times the dignity of the Chemical Engineer profession
and shall protect it from misrepresentations.

Explanation: As a Chemical Engineer, you should prove that you are one of the prides of being a
Chemical Engineer. You should have the self-esteem of being called a Chemical Engineer. You should
always work professionally.

Example: You are in a conference room filled with all engineers. You can stand as a chemical
engineer and be proud of it. You must share your knowledge from what you have learned inside the
company that you were working for. You must take a stand for all chemical engineers and prove
them that we can do our best in every company. Let them know what chemical engineer is really like
and how knowledgeable and we can work professionally in the field too.
